Good idea, major flaw in implementation Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This Add-On has great promise, but comes equipped with a terrible limitation: As by mtnester says, it can not remove just one OR a selected range of duplicates. What happens if removing-by-URL winds up destroying a "valuable" Bookmark file ?

Lightbeam for Firefox

Nice idea, terribly confusing Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Lightbeam is a "nice" idea, and needs to be expanded to track ANYONE that may be tracking, spying, etc. on you. However, how it is being described by Mozilla is generating more questions than interested users. That "method" is terribly confusing, even to die-hard Firefox users and consultants.

Video Downloader professional

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

How do you use it once it's installed in Firefox ? There are no menu options seen, but FF says Video Downloader Professional is installed. Finally, I saw the green arrow and supposedly recorded a YouTube, but where is the recorded YouTube file now? Can't seem to find it on my hard drive anywhere, and Video Downloader gives no menus or hints what or where.

Video Downloader professional

Sounds great, how do you use it? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Sounds great, but after installing Video Downloader Professional, where and how do you use it? I see no options in the Firefox menus, and right clicking on a YouTube video shows nothing to say that I can now download the YouTube video of interest.

ThunderBrowse

3.8 brilliant with 1 major flaw Rated 4 out of 5 stars

3.8 with Thunderbird 11 is brilliant with 1 major flaw

Why in all these versions do we HAVE to download an add-in just to get ThunderBrowse to "do" simple copy and paste of URL's and other information ?

This has never been explained to the users clearly and simply, nor has ThunderBrowser been "fixed right" to eliminate this major annoyance.

Babylon Dictionary Word Search

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

VERY good product, but only works up to Thunderbird 6.x.

Needs to be tweaked for use in TB 7.

DictionarySearch (Official Version)

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

One great step forward, one back ?

VERY good add-on, worthy to get and support author. Sorely needs to be usable with Thunderbird 6, and even with browser Firefox 6 and above.

ThunderBrowse

Superb Rated 5 out of 5 stars

ThunderBrowse 3.8 in one word: superbly done (oops, make that TWO words!)

ThunderBrowse

ThunderBrowse 3.7 working fine here Rated 5 out of 5 stars

ThunderBrowse 3.7 + Thunderbird 5 appears to us as ready, working, and stable. 3.7 appears under intense usage totally compatible with Thunderbird 5, and runs superbly on our multiple Win 7 32 and 64bit systems. NOTE!: ThunderBrowse + Thunderbird 5 works as expected in our systems here. Message pane works flawlessly, as do other displays. SOME users report Message pane problems, so your mileage may vary.

You can get 3.7 without waiting for Mozilla OK at:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/thunderbrowse/versions/

ThunderBrowse

Superb and TB 5 Update worth waiting for Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A superb "little" browser insert for Thunderbird (TB) 3.x and soon for 5.0, that saves many hours a week.

The wait and head-scratching seen making it work "like we are used to" in TB 5.0 will be frustrating at times, but it will be worth the wait.

STRONGLY suggest that users of this add-on seriously consider donating to the software maker, it's worth your support!

FoxGuide

Nice idea, needs Firefox 5 workability Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Nice idea, needs Firefox 5 workability.
Works well for the specific feature set it arrives with.
Going to become suddenly useless in Firefox 5.

MeasureIt

Excellent add-on, needs one option and FF 5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very good add-on, reasonable features, intuitive to use. Worthy of supporting and contributing to author.

ONE MAIN FEATURE REQUEST: PLEASE allow user to optionally select slightly larger readout font size. MUCH needed for far easier readability

ONE MAIN WORRY: Does NOT work with the new Firefox 5, yet. Pray that author can remedy that situation.

Lightning

Superb Waiting for final Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Win 7 64bit. Works superbly. Integrates well with TBird 3.1.9. Knowing that there will soon be a 1.0 Beta 4 or maybe April 2011 final, like all users we wish Lightning 1.0 would be finally finished. However, am aware that 1.0 B4 or Final needs to be timed on the soon-to-be TBird 3.3 version.

Vertical Toolbar

Well done, one needed addition Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Positive Review, however, Vertical Toolbar Needs as of version 0.2.1:

Needs to be able to duplicate Icons already supposedly in use by system, and optionally place them into the Vertical Toolbar area via dragging. Prime needed example is the Reload Current Page icon ("right rotation arrow circle") that Firefox already uses to the right of the URL address dialog strip in the main FF4 program.

Sometimes a dire need that this particular Icon needs to be ALSO place-able into the Vertical Toolbar, while still also remaining usable in its other location.

Overall, Vertical Toolbar is a VERY good idea, and is well on the way to becoming one of the most popular FF tools and add-ons.

Interclue

Seth, Karl and Jim Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Seth, Karl and Jim...

Two questions...

First and foremost, how and hopefully you all have come through the terrible earthquake OK, and are safe and sound. With so much damage in Christchurch, we pray for all there.

Lastly, we all pray also that Interclue that works with Firefox 4 Beta 12 or the soon FF4 RC can be effected, but we care more for you all being in good health first.

Please reply via Email and ALSO if possible, update the blog and the Firefox Add-On's page so we all know how you are doing.

FireFTP

Badly needs FF 4 Beta 10 Update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Mime..and other users...
As always, this is a VERY good clearly solid add-on.

However we need to see even an "almost complete" Update that will work with Firefox 4 Beta 10 or greater soon ?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.10).

FoxTab

Very good overall, still out of focus Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Although a very nicely implemented idea, no matter if a modern, hi-res monitor, or full screen, the individual thumbnail panels are ALWAYS just too much out of focus, especially compared to other add-ons like Showcase, etc., which are quite a bit sharper and more viewable. There has to be a better FoxTab algorithm that can at least improve the focus just a bit more, for both the Windows and other versions ?

Simple Mail

Willing to help Rated 5 out of 5 stars

In agreement with Anniekin.

Simple Mail 2.74 worked well, and Simple Mail 3.1 seems to be on the order of "95% done", where the remaining needs may be as follows -- knowing that we likely each have differing ideas here, but the MAIN needs might be as follows -- NOT listed in any order of importance for now:

1. SM 3.x NEEDS to be able to PROPERLY Export Emails and entire local folders to OTHER EMail systems, using either "standard" Email formats, or the one format that say Thunderbird (TBird) can read and take into TBird. SM 3.x has a LOT going for it, but people ABSOLUTELY MUST be able to Export when they need to,. in a format that makes sense to the OTHER Email applications.

2. SM 3.1 and onwards obviously needs to be able to properly send / receive Emails, as that's what we all use SM for. The current problems seen sound downright simple for a programmer to clear, as obviously SM 2.74 did it just fine, and SM 3.x is on the way to being "better" but there is clearly something wither missing or turned off in the 3.1 code.

Fact #1 is that SM 2.74 and 3.1 are essentially identical in most all areas.

Fact #2 is that simple fixes usually are just that -- simple -- but the "fixer" needs to tweak the fix, users can't do that, unless the users happen to be able to tweak the code and produce the final output for user use.

3. SM 2.74, and likely SM 3.x use the SQLite database system, and SQLite related tools (SQLite Manager is one) exist to look into the Email files as stored on the hard drive or your storage area. That's not a problem, but the SQLite tools give users, and both more advanced users and programmers the "power" to do a lot more than just inspection of the files. Where this fact leads is an interesting thought.

I leave my Email and Skype contacts as well...

can we get together, perhaps contact both of the SM knowledgeable people at the Simple Mail core -- currently telega and xtremenventor -- and seeing if one or both is willing to become or stay "fixer" ??

Simple Mail

Simple Mail 3.1 works...read on Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Simple Mail 3.1 (SM for short) is needed to update the older Simple Mail 2.74.

SM 3.1 then works fine with Firefox 3.6.10, 3.6.11 (Beta) and with Firefox 4 Beta 6.

Installing Simple Mail 3.1 to FF installations that have "locked out" SM 2.74 should work fine, as SM 3.1 will read your existing SM 2.74 Email's and folders just fine.

SM 3.1 Users that Can't Send Emails: Sending Email works fine, IF you check your IMAP or POP3 ports (both send and receive) and reset them to what they should be. That is, SM 3.1 resets them to weird port address numbers that do NOT work, until you check your IMAP or POP3 ports (both send and receive) and reset them to what they should be.

We need to work together to get SM 3.1 to export Email's and folders to other Email software's like Thunderbird, Chrome, SeaMonkey, etc...as this is a needed option.
