My Reviews

FXChrome

Black Folders Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Anyway to change the folders shortcuts from black to the old "folder" color? Other than that, great add-on. Been using for years.

Blur

Great Add-on Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I can only review the email masking and plugin overall usage. I have been using this plugin since the DNTM days, and have accrued many email masks. They are all still functional, but most importantly, I can figure out which websites are selling my email address because each one is unique. I can go right to the Blur site, and my masked emails are all laid out nice and neat, showing the email counts, with the opportunity to delete them as well.

I cannot vouch for the other credit card or phone number services, as I have never used those.
However I was wandering why my Blur icon is super tiny in the FF toolbar the last few FF updates. Any way to make that larger or at least normal size?

All in great plugin, and I am sure it is even better for those Premium services.

LastPass Password Manager

DO NOT UPGRADE Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This was obviously not tested to the fullest extent, and yet emails were sent out, articles were written in PCWORLD (of whom deleted my negative comment, POS mag).

Multiple issues reported such as high CPU, and Firefox (Windoze and Linux) freezing.

As a paying customer of this AND Xmarks, who still cannot get favicons to sync even 3 FF versions later, I would expect more.

Stick with 2.0.20.

DuckDuckGo Plus

word finder Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great search results so far. I like the built in media results. I am going to test the functionality for a week or so.

Is there a way to find certain keywords in searches? Or better yet, a toolbar that provides such functionality such as Googlebar Lite?
I am new to the plugin so maybe I am just missing a setting.

Self-Destructing Cookies

Amazing Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Finally you can surf without Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter etc, following you all over the place. Well worth the install. Does what is supposed to do. Removes cookies at a pre-set time. Whitelist what cookies you wanna keep.

I did however have to disable the pop-up notifier. That was a pain.

Google Redesigned

Works Again 12/23/12 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The constant Firefox update schedule is killing a lot of add-ons, and this may be one of them. However I just installed version 2.1.2 (which is dated 12/18/12) to my FF17.01, and after months of just "dealing" with it on my laptop, I enabled GR and once again, it is working.

Give it another try.

1.7 Fixed the missing styles Rated 4 out of 5 stars

1.7 works again! Thanks for the update. I thought my computer was hosed.

FXChrome

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is the best Firefox Chrome theme I can find, HOWEVER stop messing with it. I do not ever install above version 2.3.7. And now that Mozilla is updating the browser what seems like once a week now, this damn extension keeps getting updated. So then I have to go back to the site and re download 2.3.7. then disable auto updates. What a pia.

FoxyProxy Standard

STILL LEAKS DNS Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love using this program over my SSH connection from work. I have random wildcard sites setup so my work still thinks i am using the internet for something. HOWEVER, after all these years, this add-on still leaks DNS. I have just once again tested it using wireshark. Using profile manager i create a brand new default profile, configuring the proxy to point to my SSH connection (127.0.0.1:7070). I also set network.proxy.socks_remote_dns to true. Capturing using wireshark filtered only for DNS. All my DNS requests are going through my local squid server at home. I do not see any DNS requests in wireshark. However, I load my normal profile using foxyproxy, same settings, and all the requests go through my local DNS servers. Cmon man, can't you fix this? Whats the point off SSH tunneling if you have a DNS leak? This topic has been hot for years and I cannot believe that you haven't got right yet.

Wasn't sure how to reply to Eric's post: but yes, I do indeed have that checked.

EDIT: After working with the authors who were very supportive in getting this resolved, it was determined that FOXYPROXY was not the culprit. We are still working this one out, but I have proven that this add-on indeed does not leak DNS as I originally suspected. You can follow the progress of this issue at http://forums.getfoxyproxy.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=168&p=479#p479 . So I re-rate this product at FIVE stars.
