Old Compose | Restore Gmail Classic Compose Window

More new glitches Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This was an excellent add-on, but it seems it is not being kept up to date. I can confirm what the previous commenters have said about Contacts in FF35+, and the glitch I reported last July is still there.

I have also noticed it causing various other wonky behaviors in FF36, and have taken to enabling it only when I need to compose an email (and even at that only when I feel I really need the old compose ).

I hope the developer will work out these bugs and update this add-on, because it really was a great one that deserves to return to 5-star status.

Expire history by days

Useful, but needs work Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a useful add-on that provides an almost essential functionality that used to be included in Firefox, but it could use some improvement.

As the previous commenter noted, there is no way to know when it is doing its thing - some sort of "start" button would be helpful to activate it following installation.

As stated in the About, the initial cleanup can take some time, but having compared it to deleting chunks of history using the FF interface, this slowness seems to be a FF issue rather than a problem with this add-on.

Once it is up and running, the add-on diligently removes "expired" history as per the "older than" setting, but it does seem to cause performance issues in FF from time to time, possibly because it starts running when it perceives FF is idle, at which point the FF UI becomes very vulnerable to freezing..

It would be a great improvement to have some user control over when it runs, like a "run when FF has been idle for x minutes" or "run daily at x time", but at the very least, some indication of when it is running.

I have not been able to find any information anywhere about what the "Disable Places expiration" setting actually does (i.e. what is deleted/not deleted depending whether it is checked), and I have left it unchecked (the default on installation).

I do notice that the add-on has not been updated for over three years, and wonder if that may be causing the performance issues I have experienced.

Multifox

Latest version a win-win Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am thrilled to see that the option in now there to choose between per window and tabbed profiles. It's nice to see there are still developers who understand that one size doesn't always fit all, and choice is good.

Now using 3.1.0 with no issues at all. Thanks.

Multifox

Love it, sticking with v2.2.1 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Been using Multifox for over 4 years and could not live online without it.

That said, I tried v3.0 after upping my Firefox to 34.0.5, and found the new tabbed behaviour very confusing.

I have become accustomed to additional profiles opening in their own windows, rather than reloading the current tab, and I like to keep my separate profiles in separate windows, with all tabs in that window opening in the respective profile.

I found it extremely difficult to manage Multifox the way I am used to in 3.0, and have reverted to 2.2.1 - so far, I haven't noticed any issues with FF34.

I realize that the new behaviour may be preferable to many users, but many of us prefer the previous behaviour of automatically keeping separate profiles in separate windows. Perhaps an option could be added to allow the users to choose their preferred behaviour - until then, I will stick with the older version.

Integrated Inbox for Gmail and Google Apps

Not bad, but not for me Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I was interested in this add-on solely to replace the direct access to recently opened Google Docs/Drive documents that I had through a recently deprecated Gmail lab.

Having to toggle between the integration and my inbox is inconvenient (the previous lab appeared in the Gmail sidebar), and ultimately not worth the cost (the Drive integration is available only in paid versions) - I can just as easily get to Drive with a bookmark.

I can see the benefits of this add-on for those who access a variety of Google services regularly, but it doesn't seem intended for the purpose that I was interested in.

Integrated Inbox for Gmail and Google Apps

Difficult installation of Pro Trial Rated 3 out of 5 stars

After easily installing the free add-on and discovering that access to Google Drive (which is the sole reason the add-on appealed to me) was available in the Pro or Plus versions, I decided to get the free 14-day Pro Trial.

The installation was non-intuitive at best, and the web site provided no step-by-step or other information that might have been helpful.

The developer replied to an earlier (since deleted ?!?) comment I made here, which cleared up the confusion, and I was able to install the Pro Trial, which I have been using for several days.

Not sure yet if it's worth the price for my limited needs.

Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded!

Conflict with CTR tabs on bottom in FF30 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

On its own, this works just like the original, without the (version number) workaround now required to install Jeremy's theme.

However, when using Classic Theme Restorer, or even one of the simpler "tabs on bottom" addons, if FF30, tabs are hidden by a useless empty toolbar that can't be moved or removed.

The tabs on bottom feature in the other addons work fine when FF3 for FF4 is not installed, but in combination, I can't see the tabs. (I suspect this is what is being referred to by "strange and useless..." in the addon description.)

Will this be fixed for FF30?

Old Compose | Restore Gmail Classic Compose Window

New glitch Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using this add-on for a while, but noticed a couple of days ago that when it is enabled, my Google+ notification bell no longer appears in Gmail, for both the original version 0.1 and the latest version 2.2.8. (I haven't tested all the ones in between.)

I have been using FF24 since its release, and have not changed anything recently that would account for this.

Anybody have any ideas about this?

Update: Have switched to FF30 and the problem persists.

Old Compose | Restore Gmail Classic Compose Window

Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank for this - I use the formatting buttons and insert options a lot, and was getting fed up with having to go searching for things that have always been right there when I need them.

I was ready to give up on Gmail until I found this.

On a related note, I did notice when I installed this a few days ago that it also brought back the black Google bar, but now it's gone - are there any plans to update the add-on to bring it back?

CookieSafe - Control cookie permissions

Both 3.1 and 3.1a10 cause Firefox to hang on a regular basis in some sort of endless loop javascript error that produces an eternal sequence of empty dialogue boxes sporadically alternating with error windows, until Firefox is shut down through the task manager.

I've gone back to version 3.1a9 and haven't had any problem with it.

Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+

Updating just got easier Rated 4 out of 5 stars

On previous updates (to 17) of Firefox, the update broke the plugin and I had to reinstall Harvey's fix each time. I just went from 17 to 20, and this time around, it worked straight away without having to reinstall it.

Thanks again, Harvey.

And Jeremy, I still have my tabs on the bottom. Yes, Firefox is an ass for taking that off the options menu, but it really is no big deal to have to make a minor config edit. It was easy to find out how, and easier to do; much easier for the average user than installing the fix for your plugin. Please reconsider your decision not to update the official plugin.

French spelling dictionaries

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Mickey, thanks for the tip - it works when using the extension with Firefox as well, btw.

Olivier, for those who might be uncomfortable using Mickey's workaround, please consider offering a version of the add-on with only one dictionary (preferably "moderne") as it is cumbersome to have all of them in the right-click menu, especially when using other language dictionaries.

Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+

I'm rather paranoid myself, but having had trouble with the d-i-y workaround, took a chance with HarveyG.'s fix, after taking the necessary precautions.I've been using it since FF16 with no problems, and just went to FF17 and it still works like a charm.

MatthiXXY, I'm having trouble getting the zipped folder back to an xpi - it disappears when I restart Firefox. Is there a step-by-step anywhere?

I sincerely hope you reconsider the decision not to update this add-on. As pointed out, the tabs issue is corrected by a simple about:config edit, and is not a very good reason to abandon this great add-on.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. Works perfectly in 3.6 - the older version of this add-on does not.
