Awesome Screenshot Plus - Capture, Annotate & More

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Doesn't work with Firefox 5.
Used to work fine with 4.x, but since updating for 5, it no longer saves the file. I've tried saving as PNG, JPG, tried saving to various folders, nothing. Won't save the file at all. Hopefully this problem can be fixed with the next update?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.3.1).

Suggestion? Turn OFF the "Recommend us on Facebook" picture that loads when you right click on the icon in the status bar.

I do NOT use Facebook, nor do I ever intend to again due to the sites complete lack of security. In my field of work, I'm paid by companies on a regular basis to block anything and everything even remotely related to that highly unsecure, stalker heaven, website.

Also, while this add-on does a wonderful job doing what it's designed for, I have found that it does in fact use a very high amount of memory from time to time, as the consumption will jump from 85+ MB's to over 400 MB's in just an hour.

Works great for me, but as ekbworldwide stated, possibly change the name to AniDisablePlus?

This version seems to have Issues... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This 'NEW' version has caused me quite a bit of problems. It seems to just NOT work properly at all. I have FULLY uninstalled it, restarted Firefox, then Re-downloaded it and reinstalled it, and yet it still has 'issues'. I have tested this on a few (14 different configurations - XP Home/Pro, Vista Home/Business/Premium, etc but ALL with Firefox 3.5.2) computers now, and it seems to affect ALL of the ones with Firefox 3.5.2 installed.

Even went so far as to turn off ALL Add-Ons, Themes, etc and turn on JUST this one, and the problems still persists.

The Problems?

#1 You can NO longer Left or Right Click on the icon in the bottom right hand corner or in the Toolbar. This icon used to give you various Options. When you left clicked, it would open to Preferences, when you right clicked, it would display 6 options to pick from (Open Blockable Items, Preferences, Disable on xxx.xxx.com, Disable on this page only, Options, Enable Adblock Plus.

These do NOT seem to exist in this new version...

#2 After installing, it places this thin, yet drag-able line across the entire bottom of the browser window, which when dragged to view it, is completely blank. No clue what that's for or why it's even showing up.

#3 It eats CPU cycles like Candy. I continuously see 95-100% use while browsing when it's turned on, yet when I turn it off, I only see 20-35% while browsing.

#4 It places the icon for it in the bottom right hand corner AND on the Toolbar area, yet when you go into Options via the Menu area under Tools}Add-Ons, and you pick where you want it to display, it doesn't matter what you choose, these options do NOT save.

Sorry to say, but it seems that this particular version was a step-back, instead of forward, as the older versions worked great for me.

Thanks to FEBE, I was able to grab an older version and install and use that with NO problems. Hopefully these issues will be fixed in the next release.
