The main problem with this extension is that it only handles torrent URLs that end with the *.torrent suffix. That means users of major BitTorrent sites such as Mininova are out of luck.
The recently released "TorrentServer handler" extension fixes these issues and also introduces a couple of other neat features (e.g., right click and save to "Torrent Server" to download any file type through mlDonkey):
OTOH, it only works with mlDonkey so if you're using aMule or eMule, you're not in luck.
I know Alon, the extension's developer in the real world and was previously using the MLdonkey protocol handler this extension was forked from.
The main problem with the original extension is that it only handles URLs that end with the *.torrent suffix. That means users of major BitTorrent sites such as Mininova are out of luck.
Having just tested this extension, Alon seems to figured out how to fix those issues and also cleaned up the configuration interface which was nice touch.
In summary, this is a significant improvement over the old version. For anyone using mlDonkey this is currently the best Firefox extension available.
