Lazarus: Form Recovery

No longer works Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've relied on this heavily for years. But in the last few months it fails to record any of my forum or social network posts on any site. Very frustrating. I hate composing a post, find out that the forum or social app failed to update what I wrote, then come to find out that Lazarus also failed. It did record this review, just not in any forums. Looking for a similar app. I'm on Windows 8.1 x64, using Firefox 27.0.1

Google Translator, Web Translation, ImTranslator

Fails to work every single time for some reason Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Concept is great, but if i click IMtranslator by right clicking it never shows any translation. If I pick the next one down (IMTranslator: Google translate) it shows the original text but never shows the translation.

This is the first translation addon I've had that has failed to work. I love the features it offers and I've no idea how to troubleshoot it as other people seems to be getting results..

NoScript Security Suite

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I wish it had the option to simply select a *group* of scripts to disable instead of just one at a time. For instance, Newegg has a massive number of scripts on it's product pages and I wanted only 2 or 3 of them to still function. I had to individually select almost 20 different scripts to disable them one at a time! Time consuming to say the least.

That being said, this is the only script related addon that lets me pick which script to block. Every other one I've looked into only has a toggle on/off for an entire page. That's practically worthless. Lots webpages have scripts that are essential to a page's intended functionality.

PriceBlink - Automatic Price Comparison & Coupons

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It generally shows up to 5 competing websites. Occasionally it shows the wrong product on the other websites. The one thing I wish to God they'd add is the ability to simply rightclick the icon and disable the addon completely! It really slows down the loading of webpages beyond all hope. So navigating between pages I've already viewed becomes a waiting game. It's absurd that I have to open my addons, drill down to the pricelink addon before I can choose to enable or disable it. At least it doesn't require a FF restart.

Simple Currency Converter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I did compare the prices it shows to the prices shown on the sites own converter and they matched. And the prices are converted on the fly! Superb job. Thank you.

Free Memory

Bit confusing Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I get that it is supposed to free up memory occupied by a closed tab, but the specific options seem ambiguous. Help file tells how to use shortkeys but doesn't show what each function really does. Garbage collection vs Cycle collection, for instance. Memory minimization is meaningless as it could mean different things.

Linkification

Wonderful, but causes EXTREME lag on Amazon Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I spent months wondering why Amazon was so incredibly slow to navigate. Finally I started disabling each addon until I discovered that linkification was to blame. Disabled it and Amazon no longer lags. Running on SSD, 8 GB ram, Phenom II X4 3.4 Happened regardless if I was using Windows 7 or 8. Something to work on, guys. Hope you figure out how to fix that.

Media Hint

Works for BBC at least Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Doesn't lag my internet at all. Media loads up as fast as ever. I can watch my favorite shows on the BBC networks. But I can't watch New Zealand's shows (this video is not available to users in your location). http://tvnz.co.nz/shows?channel=tv-one Play around on the site and you'll see what I mean. Still happy with the addon.

Lazarus: Form Recovery

What are you idiots talking about? Malware??? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

There's no malware installed with this! However, the latest update to Firefox (vers. 24) has rendered this invisible. I now have to open my addons, drill down to Lazarus, click options, then click "search" After lots of googling I found out they renamed the status bar to "add ons" and you have to choose to show them again via the view menu. Gave me a scare there.

Download Flash and Video

Forget about comedy central Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Okay for regular sites but high sites owned by Viacom seem to block this. Anyone get it working to download Colbert and the Daily Show let me know!

HeaderControl

come back Schdenis! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Want to use this with Firefox 10 also. Google custom date is totally incompatible with it, plus I keep getting 10 results instead of 100. general.useragent.extra.firefox no longer exists in about:config and when it did it still didn't work as Google messed up everything in the last few months.

Youtube MP3 Podcaster

Saved Me fromm Easy YT Video downloader Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using Easy YoutTube Video Downloader for a long time, but now it requires purchasing to download mp3. So tried a few other converters and this one didn't have any page redirects. It just downloaded them. Sound matches that of the videos, too. Just wish it would work with DTA. Thanks.

Hi, Jeremy, DTA is the DownThemAll plugin for Firefox. Easy to work with and highest speed. I do keep in mind there is a conversion process before the mp3 can be downloaded, of course.

Download Flash and Video

First to actually Work Universally Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've tried Easy Youtube Downloader, Download Helper, Flashget, and others as well. This was the first one that I had no trouble using on Facebook videos. The icon is at the bottom right of your browser (I used 3.6.3) and you right click it and there will be a bold heading "videos to download". Make your selection there.

Sticking With Orig Addon Thankyou Very Much Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Sticking With Orig Addon Thankyou Very Much

Skipping offer to install Yontoo Layers. I realize the orig addon is free and the devs aren't made of money, but when I saw a breakdown of all the files and registry entries created and saw the connections this "plugin" makes I lost interest immediately. Advertising to support yourself is fine, but the reason I use Firefox is so I NEVER have to deal with adware. Notice the connections Yontoo makes, particularly the ones that have "adserver" and "tracker" in the url: http://www.threatexpert.com/report.aspx?md5=daa809511ccf815eb7230ba87a0db063

BTW, it was impossible to select less than 5 stars on this webpage in IE because there's something running interference! Had to use Firefox with NoScript and Adware Plus just to rate this less than 5 stars!!! 4 stars for orig addon, knock off another star for company's deceptive promotion of their so called"upgraded" version.

P.S. After trying to submit this review the page closed for no reason.

SkipScreen -- download helper, now for sale...

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Nice concept, but it didn't work even once for me. Also needs support for fileserve and megashares as these get used pretty frequently. Basically the problem was the countdown would end and the page would just reload, and this kept happening.

YouTube mp3

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It works really well. It has to download it to it's cache, then it converts it quickly. After that a download link is provided and you can save it wherever you like. However, the initial cache downloading is achingly slow! I have a 50mbit connection and it usually is around 250 to 700 KB/s

Easy YouTube Video Downloader

No longer finishes conversion Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This was the best but it now times out if you want to convert youtube videos to mp3. And what is up with the "Android" conversion page? I'd buggy and I have to enter a turing code every time the conversion fails! "Connection Problem: The website that you are trying to access is having connectivity issues and is timing out. Would you like to browse the site off-line using CloudFlare's Cache? (Cookies and Javascript must be enabled for off-line browsing.)" And when it does report being successful you click on the download link and it tells you that the link is expired, blah blah blah! Hopefully this will be fixed, but as it stands I can't find any use for it.

YesScript

Ever hear of a GUI? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Yesscript is a "too little, too late" addon. Noscript is MUCH easier to use and, unlike what the devs of this addon claim, does not force you to embrace paranoia. You can do the same thing with Noscript as Yesscript just by allowing all scripts and then blocking the ones you don't want to deal with. Simply rightclick the page and choose what you want to block vs all the extra steps you have to take if you use Yesscript instead. I think the devs fail to understand the KISS principle.

OptimizeGoogle

You CAN Disable Google Instant! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have to repeal part of one of my reviews. Google results being hijacked such as ignoring your selection to see 100 results instead of 10. This a script that Google runs, which overrides EVERYTHING! Use the Noscript extension to BLOCK "google.com" from hijacking your search preferences. This doesn't black google itself, just the java script it wants to run on your system. However, I think this needs to be added as an option to this extension (maybe it already is and I just missed it).
