My Reviews

Tabs on Bottom (Australis)

Perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does just what I wanted, even in combination with Classic Theme Restorer (which does a much poorer job of this), Tab Utilities, and many other tab addons. Very impressive!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.1-signed).

DuckDuckGo Plus

Only useful if complete privacy is more important than good searching Rated 1 out of 5 stars

DuckDuckGo may not track you, but it does a much poorer job of searching than Google. With Google, I've had the search I'm looking for come up as the second result, while with DuckDuckGo, the desired search result for the same search didn't even appear in the results, even though it was the only result that had all my keywords in it.

Amazon Assistant for Firefox

Nice addon if you don't mind giving up your privacy Rated 2 out of 5 stars

There's no need to speculate on what information Amazon does or does not collect or what it does with it - just click on the Privacy Policy, the EULA, and the Conditions of Use above, and you'll see. (There's also the Alexa Privacy Policy contained within the Conditions of Use.) Basically, the reviews below are correct. Here's one of the more interesting quotes from the Conditions of Use:

" The Alexa functionality in the Amazon Browser Apps collects and stores information about the web pages you view. In some cases, that information may be personally identifiable, but Alexa does not attempt to analyze web usage data to determine the identity of any user. "

So as long as you trust these guys, and they don't change their policy, you're fine.

"You have no privacy. Get over it."

Classic Theme Restorer

Firefox Overhaul Redux Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well, there goes another night making Firefox act the way it used to. But thanks so much for making that possible! And with all the options, the mix and match possibilities are endless. Note to Colorful Tab users: Colorful Tabs will work with this addon, but you have to set the first option in Tabs to be "Curved tabs (Australis default)".

Menu Icons Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice! I like how this addon works automatically - no configuration required, unless you want different icons. And the number of icons covered can always use some expansion. But this is a minor detail, and all in all, this addon turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

Tile Tabs

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of those wonderful extensions that you don't know how much you need until you actually use it. Now I wish I had started using it years ago. The documentation on the main page is comprehensive and clear, and it makes it a lot simpler to use this addon than it might appear at first. The developer seems to have thought of almost everything, which is really nice for customizers like me. I have only one request: Could there be a couple of (configurable) hotkeys for switching between tiles? One hotkey would switch the focus to the next tile, while the other would switch the focus to the previous tile. This would come in very handy for users like me who don't like to take their hands away from the keyboard.

History Submenus II

Great addition to history feature Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works fine in FF 19.0.2 - earlier problem was a Firefox bug. Makes navigating history much easier.

Tab Utilities

Best tab manager around Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Tab Utilities is definitely the best tab manager around in my book, and I've used most of them. I'll concur with the title of the review by Atavachron below: "Best Addon Ever Broken by Mozilla". As the author mentions in the warning above, Mozilla pulled a nasty one on him with the release of FF17, and there appears to be no easy way for him to fix it on his own. Hopefully, Mozilla will fix one of the bugs he mentions soon. In the mean time, I would recommend TabKit 2nd Edition; although falling short of Tab Utilities, I think it comes the closest to it of any of the available tab managers. I would also recommend the addition of Colorful Tabs; this add-on is very useful with Tab Utilities as well, even though both tab managers do tab coloring.

Very handy extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works fine for me too. Very useful on pages where it's hard to line things up properly.

If a page has some sort of display bar at the top, though, this extension won't take that into account. That's easy enough to get around, though.

googlebar

Best successor to Google Toolbar Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent replacement for the core features of Google Toolbar. As noted by others, some features are missing, but hopefully this will be addressed in time. Meanwhile, this does not cause the problems that Google Toolbar does with more recent versions of FF.

Two requests: 1) Restore the keyboard shortcut to the search box (Alt-G); 2) Add the proper icons to the various search types.

Tab Kit 2nd Edition

Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's really wonderful to have the features of Tab Kit back once again. I am one of the many who delayed upgrading from FF 3.6 due to a lack of an upgrade for this add-on. I finally gave up and upgraded a few months ago, but there's really no substitute for Tab Kit, which works perfectly for me under FF 11. Thanks again!

Suggestion: Would it be possible to have an option not to make the current tab's title bold when highlighted?

NumExt - Numbered Tabs

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works perfectly. VERY useful.

Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out (TACO)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great for me. I like the large amount of detail and the wide range of customization. Popups can be eliminated by using only the toolbar icon and not the status bar icon.

ResizeIT

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great! Nice idea, nice execution.

InvisibleHand

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The worst thing about this extension is that when it runs, it locks up Firefox completely, and it can take quite a while to run. Second, its selection of retailers ("over 50") is quite small; this is no substitute for a search engine. Third, it doesn't count shipping charges, which throws off its comparisons, making many of them inaccurate.

Fox Splitter (formerly Split Browser)

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

To quote GunnzAkimbo, "Its an awesome addon, and it could be alot better." My gripe is that it makes it impossible to close the last window by closing the last tab. Why? This is important enough to me that I stopped using it.

SpellBound

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice addition to the spell checking feature.

Single Key Tab Switch

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does one small thing, but does it perfectly. How about an option where any single digit switches to that numbered tab?

functions for keyconfig

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent extension! Invaluable for resolving the inevitable key binding conflict.
