My Reviews

Open in Wayback Machine

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very good. My one suggestion would be to add a second menu option for opening the URI in a new tab in Wayback Machine.

The Fox, Only Better

Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I wanted something that provides more screen real estate. This add-on fits the bill and does exactly what it claims to.

It's not enough to detract a star, but one suggestion from me would be to improve compatibility with themes that move the tabs beneath the toolbar. As it is now, the mouse-over toolbar will appear on top of the tabs if they are in such an arrangement, which makes it hard to click on the tabs.

It's also a bit hard to get the toolbar to show up in chromeless popup windows created via JavaScript, etc. without keyboarding, but I don't think this is an issue for most people.

MinimizeToTray revived

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Did I review this already? My apologies. I've noticed a cool trick you can do with this add-on on Linux (which is probably a glitch). If one minimizes the window to the tray while in fullscreen, then restores it, they'll end up with a "windowed fullscreen mode", where the toolbars are automatically hidden by default, but the window has its normal border. Even if that wasn't the intended effect, I'd still like that bit kept in if at all possible.

It would be perfect if there was an option to *always* show the tray icon. In its current implementation, this add-on only shows the tray icon when the window is specifically minimized to the tray.

PrintPDF

Excellent, and very convenient. Combining it with Readability (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/46442/) can often produce an even simpler and better-formatted PDF file. 5 stars.

Readability

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on; it even works in Minefield 4.0b9pre with compatibility checking disabled! Plus, it goes very well with PrintPDF (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5971/). I absolutely recommend this to people who can't stand looking at the clutter of the average website.

Status-4-Evar

Love it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It does exactly what it says. Personally, I find it strange that the developers would remove this functionality from Firefox - I find it awkward to look down at the Add-on Bar, and see nothing but buttons and icons.

Duplicate This Tab

Problem with quitting Firefox 4.0b8pre Rated 3 out of 5 stars

On my GNU/Linux installation, Firefox 4.0b8pre's process wouldn't terminate correctly out of having this add-on. It might be a conflict of sorts, but I'm not quite sure yet. My other add-ons enabled at the time were AdBlock, LastPass, NoScript, Omnibar (RDF-edited), Remove Tabs (RDF-edited), Status-4-evar, Stylish (RDF-edited), and Undo Closed Tabs Button. Otherwise, it does exactly what it says, and I'd love to see this problem fixed. Cheers!

Stylish

Great add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of those select-few add-ons that I can hardly live without. It's simple, user-friendly - and above all, just *works* - so I don't have any groundbreaking ideas on how to improve it. (Plus, after editing the install.rdf file, it's even working on Minefield 4.0b8pre/Ubuntu 10.10!) However, I do have some minor suggestions:

1) When loaded in the sidebar, the Stylish dialog overrides the browser's built-in key for Alt+F (the File menu) with its own access key (Find Updates). Perhaps Alt+U could be considered instead?
2) Having optional keyboard shortcuts for the Stylish window and sidebar would be a nice touch (especially for keyboard shortcut addicts like myself).
3) When creating or editing a userstyle, I'd prefer it if hitting "Enter/Shift+Enter" with the "Find" textfield focused behaved more like the browser's built-in Find function (as opposed to simply closing the dialog instead).
4) An optional prompt for saving unsaved changes to styles might be nice (so as to avoid the occasional typo of the Escape key).
5) Automatic closing of the Stylish dialog whenever the last browser window is exited out of.

Cheers!

Grab and Drag

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great add-on; you'd never guess that being able to scroll a webpage in this way would be so convenient. Problem is, it conflicts with dragging the windows in eyeOS (www.eyeos.info). Please see if you can get this issue fixed!

Personal Menu (Personal Firefox Button)

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Currently using Firefox 3.5.3/Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty. The feature for specifying the positions of the menus does not work - the menus always appear at the lower right corners of their respective buttons. This could be a slight issue if the menus are placed towards the right side of the Firefox interface and I'd like to see it fixed. Other than that, the add-on is highly convenient and does exactly what it claims to do.

Orbit

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

From time to time, I swing into the mood for a retro Firefox look, and with its quirky, playful icons, the original Phoenix theme is one of my favorites. Thanks for posting this!

I would also like to mention that this theme works almost perfectly on Linux; the only thing that needs to be fixed is the menubar text color upon mouse-hover. The following lines should do the trick when added to either userChrome.css or a new User Style:

.menubar-text {
color: inherit !important;
}

menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"],
menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"][open="true"] {
color: inherit !important;
}

Hide Caption

Three issues with this on Ubuntu Linux:
>> The window does not move smoothly when dragged.
>> The visual effects do not work in Firefox, most noticeably wobbly windows.
>> The window is 'stuck' within the desktop area and cannot be dragged even partially off-screen.

bookmarks history panel

Adding two more panels for the downloads and add-ons managers would be nice.

UI Tweaker (Formerly Toolbar Cleanup)

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

After changing the maxVersion number in the RDF file, I was surprised to find that this add-on works decently in Fx 3.5.1, and despite being intended for Windows, it works on Ubuntu 9.04. However, as expected, there are still a good number of issues that need to be worked out. PLEASE update this for Fx 3.5.1, and come out with a 'true' Linux version as well. That would be sure to please thousands, if not millions, of Firefox users!

Linkification

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Out of all the text-URL-to-link add-ons I've tried, this is by far the best one as it converts the text into actual links. Awesome job!

Tab Sidebar

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I like this add-on, but if it's not too much to ask, I'd like to see the following added in:

1) As much compatibility as possible with tab-related add-ons, such as Tab Kit, Aging Tabs, etc.
2) A keyboard shortcut to toggle the sidebar

Thanks!

This is one of my fave themes; it's really clean and I love the retro look. Please, PLEASE update this to Fx 3.5.
