My Reviews

Classic Theme Restorer

Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Tabs back where **I** want them. Status bar holding the things **I** want at the bottom of my browser. And most important, reload and back/forward buttons back where they were - I was getting sick of reloading the page when I clicked where I expected the back button.

Tabs On Bottom

One small problem Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Strangely, the tab position doesn't persist when I restart Firefox (29.0 beta). Though I can still get it back by disabling then re-enabling Tabs On Bottom. But better than being completely stuck...

Tabs On Bottom

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you. My tabs are now back in a far more logical position.

A very useful addon for those of us who prefer to disable cookies by default and only enable them for trusted sites.
I hope this will be updated to work with Firefox 4 pretty soon, as it's the one function I'm missing on the new version.

Worrying Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I find it worrying that after installing this extension and reloading my browser, I get sent to a page with a link that says "Click here to scan for System Errors and Optimize System performance".

This stinks of malware to me. So much so that I've removed the extension and restored my Firefox config from backup in case it's malevolent.

It MAY be innocent, but the signs are enough to worry me.

Just what I was looking for Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using the Translate extension for a long while, but this extension has the two features I've always wanted.
* Can configure for one-click translation to a favoured language pair (I mainly translate Dutch to English).
* Adds extra translation services (Translate only uses Babelfish.)

Only downside was that although Google translation supports Dutch-English, Translator doesn't know about it.

As I have managed to work out how to add this functionality, here's a summary for anybody who needs to do the same with this or any other language pair. (I did it on Linux, it should be similar on other systems)

cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/
jar -xvf translator.jar # Extracts the contents of the JAR file
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/
vi # (or use your favourite text editor)
Find the line starting "google.langpairs" and add in the relevant codes (for example, to get Dutch/English and the reverse, I added ",nl.en")
The next step may or may not be needed, I needed it to get it working with my en_GB locale.
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/
cp -r en-US en-GB
cd en-GB
vi # (or use your favourite text editor)
Add lines for your language pairs in the same format as all the other lines.
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/
jar -cvf translator.jar * # re-builds the JAR file

Re-start Firefox and you should now have your new language pair. If the pair doesn't appear for your chosen translator, check to see if Firefox has output a message like "*** Failed to get string in bundle: chrome://translator/locale/" if it did, then you need to do an edit on locales similar to the one I did.

Once it's working, you can delete everything in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/ apart from translator.jar
