It's needless to say how amazing is your work!
I just would like to propose you some ideas i have and report a possible problem.
- As you know, this extension is very complicated, demanding of the user to study on it, to
be able understand how it works, all its features and functionalities and then personalize it.
Well, after all that, with a simple click (intentionally or accidentally) can destroy everything!
I'm referring to "Restore Defaults" button.
In my opinion, a warning/confirmation message would be invaluable.
Additionally, a import/export settings functionality would be also very convenient,
for backup purposes and when someone has many computers or firefox profiles and would
like to apply easily his personal scheme on Tile Tabs (with so many settings..).
- The new option "Save Pins", shouldn't be better "Save Pinned or Pinnings or Pin state"?
- The new option "Open link above/below if no existing layout", should be more clear on what
exactly means, what is the logic of this function (above/below).
I made experiments until i realize that when the option "Open link in previous tile" is
unchecked, then the link will open below.
In other words, it's not obvious the dependence between these two options.
But also, why below and not next, according to the default layout ("2 Tabs - Vertical") or
according to what the user has specified as the default layout??
I think that you have to clarify all these.
- In v9.0, the option "Open In Next Tile:" does not work correctly or has not the expected
behaviour in my opinion, at least like was in previous version of Tile Tabs.
When the modifier key in "Open In Next Tile:" is set to "(none)", all the options below are
ignored and the extension affects the default behaviour of firefox, creating always a new
layout to open the middle-clicked link within a tile.
In previous version of Tile Tabs, outside of an active layout or in a non tiled tab, the behaviour
on middle-clicked links was firefox's default, even when the modifier key was set to "(none)".
So, i consider this as a problem, because some users (like me) might prefer to not make
use of a modifier key on middle-clicked links, within a Tile Tab's active layout or not.
Don't forget to notify your translators before you publish a new version if there are new or
Is ugly a interface with a mix of languages :-)
It's very handy, lightweight, fast and, as its name says, it's working..!
However i noticed a small glitch, hopefully easily fixable by its developer:
It stands over the vote bar (likes/dislikes) hiding it.. :(
- The extension's options dialog opens always in advanced mode.
- The option "Open this window instead of assistant" can not be saved.
- The number boxes in "Searchbar Width" and "Text Padding" have no limits in
input value. So, the entered values, don't correspond always to the actual results.
This is annoying and confuses the user.
- Also, in prefs.js file, in first line (description), should be used the extension's ID. Now the
extension's description in list of extension manager is not localized, appearing always
in English, regardless of the applied locale in extension.
I hope the developers to fix all these issues..
It's a very good and useful extension but, unfortunately the latest version (1.5.6)
is partially broken..
The options wizard does not works and also some options in the main options
In error console there are some error entries related to Searchbar Autosizer.
After the update, when i realized this situation, i test the extension in a new
and clean profile on firefox 8 with the same results..
Also, in prefs.js file, should be used the extension's ID in description line. Now the
extension's description is not localized..
I hope the developers will fix all these issues..
I think this is not a good practice..
Since the developer claims that v0.4.8 is compatible with FF versions 1.0 to 4.0, then should be full
compatible to these FF versions, not partially to some of them. Otherwise, should maintain two
MeasureIt versions, as other developers do.
If i keep v0.4.7 to FF3.6, then how i will be benefited from any enhancements or new features
in future versions, unrelated to statusbar icon..????
First i have to say that it's a very useful extension in various cases.
But now how can i add its icon in statusbar of Firefox 3.6..??
I'm a quite long time user of this extension, i will continue to use Firefox 3.6 for a while or more, because my
most useful extensions currently are not compatible with Firefox 4 and my toolbars in my laptop are
already full of buttons..
I believe that a lot of users will continue to use Firefox 3.6 for their reasons, so the developer should
consider to add an option for the icon in statusbar..
Hi all people here, including the developer of course..!
Well, recently i have installed this extension and after a couple of days
using it, generally i can say that is really great, very useful and should be included in Firefox's releases by default (Internet explorer has this feature many years now).
BUT: unfortunately i found a glitch..!!
The defect is that the extension behaves like an animated-favicon
killer! In most cases.
After i installed it, whenever I visit a site that i know for sure that has
animated-favicon, BY TYPING THE URL in location bar, Firefox displays it (normal behavior). But if i bookmark this
site, the newly created bookmark has the standard favicon for other
browsers without animated-favicon support (IE, Opera, etc)..!! Even
worst: if i visit again the site by clicking the bookmark, Firefox loads the site with the standard favicon!! The only way is to close the tab, flush Firefox’s cache and then reload the site in new tab BY TYPING THE URL in location bar.
Also, if i open bookmark’s options, click browse
and give manually the path to animated-favicon (found it in page’s code), the animated-favicon appears in this dialog box, but clicking save changes nothing has been changed to the already saved bookmark!
Also, i have several bookmarks with animated-icon, saved before the
installation of this extension. But now if i click on any of those bookmarks the site will be loaded with the standard favicon!
You can visit for example the following sites with animated-favicons: www.xronion.gr or www.animatedfavicon.com or www.favicongenerator.org WITHOUT Favicon Picker installed.
Browse them and save bookmarks as usual. Then delete those
bookmarks, flush Firefox’s cache, install Favicon Picker 2 and then
visit again above sites and do the same to see the difference..
Another different example is this site: http://graphiste.crea.free.fr.
Here everything about the favicon appear to be ok with Favicon
Picker but in this case the site uses the known trick of gif animation file renamed to favicon.ico (http://graphiste.crea.free.fr/favicon.ico)..!
I can confirm all above because i have tested the extension at four WinXP SP3 installations, at three different computers on Firefox 3.6.6
Reading several reviews here, i wonder why no one else hasn’t noticed
this defect.. I don’t believe that i am the only one who likes
I hope the developer do the appropriate actions to fix this soon..!
I’m using FF 3.6 on WinXP SP3. After WMN was upgraded to latest version 2.2.3, unfortunately this very nice and useful addon don’t works at all any more.
Clicking "Options" or "Open WMN window" from status bar icon, nothing happens.
When I open WMN’s options window from FF’s addon window, I see that all my previous settings (my Yahoo account, etc) are disappeared. Also, the drop-down account list is empty. So i can’t do anything to reapply my settings.

But i believe that would be far more useful if it was possible to faviconize all open tabs at once. When i start browsing, i can't know how many tabs i will need to keep open..This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.8.2).
