Bamboo Feed Reader

small bug Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Embedded audios are not shown. I can only see the embedded audio widget by entering the options and then (change anything or don't, doesn't matter) returning to the reader tab. Then the audio widget shows up. "Show embedded content (videos) of articles *" option has no effect whatsoever.
You can check this feed to see what I mean:

Anyway, aside from this bug, absolutely fantastic add-on. I use it as a google reader replacement, and love it. Thanks for the work you put into it.

p.s.: Nope, it's Firefox (Firefox ESR 24.6.0 to be precise). I don't use Thunderbird.

Memory Fox

Useless Rated 1 out of 5 stars

All this addon does is to shift bytes around. On the surface it looks like reducing the memory use. However, the commit size of the process does not change. At best, it does not do anything harmful. At worst, it forces your system to swap more.

Copy All Links

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Super simple and super functional. The ability to identify download links is very useful.

Thank you

Bamboo Feed Reader

Good replacement for google reader Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Found this gem when looking for a replacement for google reader. Bamboo is very handy. It's better than cloud thingies: the lesson google taught us is still very fresh. It's better than stand alone feed readers, because when you click on the links in the feed items, you are still in the browser, which is very practical.

A few requests/suggestions though:
An option to throttle checking feeds would be nice. It attempts to check all the feeds at once, and it brings the network connection to a stand still for 10 seconds or so. Just check the feeds one by one, with some interval in between, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, I don't know.

Another request: please give us back the original right click context menu. It serves useful purposes, and it is not proper ethiquette to remove it.

Tab Mix Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is perhaps the most important Firefox add-on.

I have an issue though. When I start Firefox with TMP's session manager, it loads all the tabs.

Firefox's own session manager loads only the active tab, so it loads much faster, when there are many tabs.

But Firefox's session manager only remembers the last session, not the previous to the last one, so if the last session gets corrupted, you're dud. (This is not an issue with TMP, it's Firefox's problem I know.)

So it would be so nice if the developer changed the behavior of TMP's session manager to load only the active tab when restoring a session.

Anyway, thanks for this gem.

Webmail Ad Blocker

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

About a week ago Gmail changed something, and now this add-on makes it work weird. For example when sending mails, it remains "sending in background" status, though the mail is sent actually.

Readability

yet another developer to cash in Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Last month it was download statusbar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26). Now readability. Developers trying to cash in on the add-ons they created. And using stupid means to do so.

Download Statusbar

I won't be updating unless this "sponsorship" issue is cleared. Also I won't be recommending it to anyone else.

There are ways to make money from your work, honest ones all require full disclosure.

Better Gmail 2

Show Unread Message Count on Favicon Rated 3 out of 5 stars

There is a new Labs item called "Unread message icon". That one roughly does the job of "Show Unread Message Count on Favicon". It does not change the color of the favicon though. Anyway, better than nothing I suppose.

Better Gmail 2

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Nice add-on, but the "Show Unread Message Count on Favicon" function no longer works. Gmail updated something I suppose.

It'll be a test to see whether this one is abandonware or not.

PageZipper

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

There is a crude but quick fix for the changing toolbar size problem, the one PJatPoole or ShadowBrite referred to. Here it is:

Find the pagezipper folder within the profile folder of firefox: For instance:
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\kw35ermz.default\extensions\pagezipper@printwhatyoulike.com\skin"

Copy zipper_16.png and zipper_16_green.png over zipper_24.png and zipper_24_green.png respectively. This prevents pagezipper from enlarging the toolbar once you click on its button.

Lazarus: Form Recovery

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This add-on, just like me, begs for a whitelisting feature. I can't use the add-on since its database grows to unmanageble proportions, and firefox fires up in a whopping 3 minutes to be able to load that huge database.

SkipScreen -- download helper, now for sale...

time saver Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Good: SkipScreen automates many tasks for the user, making the user experience much more smoother. It is actually one of the reasons I prefer FF to other browsers. It is also clever that it does not mess up pages when something unexpected happens (i.e. when a paid membership to a site exists).
Bad: not enough sites covered.

Overall: This is a greasemonkey on steroids type add-on, which makes life a little bit less miserable for those who use file archive sites (like rapidshare).
