Abduction! - Webpage Screenshots Screen Capture

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The fix for 3.0.16 will work for 3.0.17 also, as far as I can tell. I was fortunate enough to read about Michael's fix before his review was deleted, so here are the details for patching the 3.0.17 xpi:

1. edit line 789 of chrome/content/browser.js and change it from:
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, null, null, picker.file);
to:
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, null, null, picker.file, null);

2. change line 796 from:
alert(label.sizeerror);
to:
alert(error);

3. (my own tweak; optional) modify line 63 of install.rdf from:
<em:version>3.0.17</em:version>
to:
<em:version>3.0.17.1</em:version>

updated to add more info:The xpi file for the addon (as are all xpi's) is actually a compressed ZIP file, so what you can do (in Windows) is to right-click on the green "Add to Firefox" button on the addon page and save the xpi file to your hard drive. Then use Winzip, Winrar, 7zip or some other archive program to open the xpi file and extract the contents to a new folder. After extraction, you'll see the chrome/ subfolder and the content/ subfolder within chrome/ . After modifying browser.js, be sure to repack everything into a ZIP-format file and rename the file's extension to .xpi. I hope this helps! I would have uploaded the modified xpi somewhere, but as several people have mentioned, links are banned in reviews.

Perspectives

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Going back to 4.2. The Perspectives blog says that in version 4.3, "The Perspectives icon will no longer always appear on the addons bar or status bar, freeing you to only place it where you want!" The problem is now the icon *never* appears in the status bar, which is where I want it. There's no option to place it there, and the icon can't be dragged to the status bar.

Greasemonkey

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Great addon, been using it for years now. But minus two stars for the new system tray-like popup notifications that tell you a userscript has been detected and installed. They're very slow to draw on some of my systems, and there's no option in Greasemonkey to disable them.

Ank Pixiv Tool

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

So how are you supposed to use this thing? There are no instructions at all, and the author's page is all in Japanese. There's a "Download current pixiv image" option that's been added to the Tools menu after installing this extension, but after I go to a Pixiv page and choose that option, nothing happens! No save dialog, nothing.

Tab Kit

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

For those who want to hide the search bar, add the following to your userChrome.css file:

#tabkit-filtertabs-query { display: none !important; }

Tile Tabs

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Mostly works great, but I found that when Tile Tabs is loaded, middle-clicking on a link (to open the link in a new tab) causes the current page to "flash", as if Firefox was opening a new, blank window over the current page and then immediately closing the new window or moving it to a new tab. Disabling Tile Tabs fixes this behavior. I have Tab Mix Plus loaded as well, but disabling that doesn't cause the problem to go away when Tile Tabs is loaded.
Even opening a new tab causes the current tab to flash.

IE Tab V2 (Enhanced IE Tab)

I wasn't able to get the 2.4.14.1 version from AMO - I had to go here to get it instead:

Either AMO screwed up or the developer did - the version 1.4.1 XPI isn't there (404). So much for wanting to try out this extension.

Controle de Scripts

Nice concept, but... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It doesn't work with NoScript.
