While the extension is nice, it is quite difficult to get the correct version for your Thunderbird and OS.
I recently accidentally upgraded from Thunderbird (well, Icedove) 17 to 24.4 and had to upgrade Lightning as well, but neither the current version nor the recommended 2.6.4 would run correctly. One even prevented Icedove from launching without safe mode.
Like I said, there's a history of this, so once you get it working, don't touch it!
Developer is a bit pushy with getting users to view their website -- to the extent of opening a special page as soon as the user clicks "uninstall". Kind of creepy.
Extension basically works, but I don't trust the dev.
Excellent job. This puts my mind at ease. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4).
Unintuitive interface, buggy region selector, and I had to dig through the XPI file to read some of the keyboard shortcuts whose explanations were mangled by the Help dialog's layout.
Terrible. Installed with a Bing toolbar, Facebook button, Stumble button... Horrid.
This was a great extension. (I'm on 3.6 now, so I no longer need it.)
No longer maintained, and has serious bugs regarding data encoding.
Will fail if your passwords include certain characters.
(There has been no response on the bug-tracking site on this high-priority issue.)
Abduction is an excellent page grabber. Only one problem encountered so far:
On long pages, garbage appears near the bottom of the page.
There are areas with screwed-up background color, areas with tiled images, and places where lines of text are duplicated. I even saw one instance where pieces of a page in another tab were pulled in.
The Screen Grab extension produced similar results, so this may be a bug in Firefox or Gecko itself.
System: Firefox 184.108.40.206, Abduction 2.019, Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon), 32-bit Intel PC, factory graphics card.
It works, but I think it still has a big ol' memory leak.
I use Adblock Plus these days, which was forked from the Adblock codebase.
