Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis)

[RESOLVED]: "Original Firefox Icon IS Slightly Visible" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hey Aris - you nailed it, man.

That issue was being caused by WindowBlinds as you rightly pointed out - have excluded the Firefox TitleBar from being skinned by WindowBlinds and the original Firefox icon is now being duly collapsed as it's supposed to.

Check out the awesome effect, now - thank YOU so much for your prompt responses and useful heads-up:--

"Original Firefox Icon IS Slightly Visible" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for the prompt response, Aris.

01.) ATM, I'm not using any theme on Firefox - *was* using one until V29 (when Australis screwed up.) :P

02.) Glad you coded the original Firefox icon to be collapsed when the CTR Application Button on ToolBar is selected. Not sure why my original Firefox icon is refusing to get collapsed.

03.) On my copy of Windows, I'm using Firefox 29 Beta 5 with WindowBlinds (Sublime skin) on Windows 8 (x64-bit) and all the latest updates on a meticulously maintained high-end gaming production-system.

Have uploaded a screenshot (with the CTR Application Button disabled - on my *default* Firefox skin) to help you in inspecting points # 1 & 2:--

Hi Aris!!!

Don't have much to complain about - guess I'd be nitpicking, here.

I'm running the latest CTR 1.1.9beta1 and have noticed that a very small part of the original Firefox Icon IS visible from behind the CTR TitleBar Button. Have noticed this on all previous CTR versions, too.

Check this out on the following screenshot:--

Just an heads-up - the beta on the subject line is registering as corrupt.

Keep up the good work. ;-)

It's no longer functional on the current V29 Beta 1 - maybe the culprit is Australis.

However full 5 stars for all previous efforts.

LavaFox V2

"Is THIS The Bloody No # 1 Theme???" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Have reviewed this add-on in the past describing it as sexy - actually, the previous V1 was 65% sexy and 35% chic (more on this, later.)

The V1 was love at first sight - the V2 was NOT, it kept pestering me though, to give it a second thought.

The V1 had drop-dead looks, which left a hard-hitting instant impact on the user - the V2 leaves a very haunting impression and seduces him to sustain a longer-term relationship.

The V1 had rounded, full blown, fully dressed and a lusty but disproportionate body - the V2 is swanky (Awesome Bar,) streamlined (the buttons are more oblong) and the overall figure is almost symmetrical. The most significant and desirable improvement in the V2 is that it's revealing with oomphs of transparency introduced for the Perfectionist.

Is the V2 sexier? No, it's not - it's now a class act; 60% chic and 40% sexy. Where the colored V1 was flamboyant and bursting with highlights (with reference to transitions on mouse over) - the V2 is more subdued, exuding a low-key demeanor. The buttons on the V1 were an exercise in embossing while those on the V2 are an exhibition of etching.

So, going back to the beginning of this review - Is THIS The Bloody No # 1 Theme???
Oh yeah, the very fact that this theme (V2) is being compared with it's predecessor, the V1 (instead of another theme) indicates for me the V2 is easily the best dark theme out there for Firefox.

Damn you, Ziggy - don't know how you fellas manage to bring enhancements into a product that's already excellent (have got some constructive feedback for ya - just don't know where to post it.) Have a good one and keep raising that bar.

Hi SoapyHamHocks!!!

Though this wonderful add-on works on the current version v11.0 Beta 8, I'd like to see it supported and fully compatible with all the v11.0 betas.

"Too Sexy For Just 5 Stars" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Have employed many a theme from AMO in the past - few of which were quite gorgeous, too. The LavaFox V1 for Firefox, though is one theme with absolutely drop dead looks. It's a theme that causes a stirring in one's loins (if you know what I'm referring to . . . . . . . . too sexy for it's 5 stars.)

Great job, Ziggy - keep it up.

re: "The Reload / Refresh Icon Is Not Reproduced Correctly" Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Nope AMG,

Have never ever installed 'ReloadEvery.' What you can see though in my screenshot ( http://i55.tinypic.com/261gguw.jpg ) is that I've detached the 'Reload / Refresh Button' from the 'Location / Address Bar' to change the default appearance of Firefox 4.0 so to display the 'Menu Bar.'

Hi AMG :--|)

2. If you're referring to the 'buttons' illustrated at ( http://i52.tinypic.com/2nbfw9l.jpg ) I'm not exactly sure how those 'buttons' on my theme changed. I do however believe that they get skinned by the Windows 7 theme that I use ( http://mediamyself.deviantart.com/art/Aero-Borders-Windows-7-Basic-149813275?offset=100#comments )

Please be cautioned that this Windows 7 theme is a *BASIC* one which is not meant for *AERO* Users.

"You Deserve My FIRST 5 Stars For Your Attitude" Rated 5 out of 5 stars

@ DamonDiamond

The 'Close' button never figured in the 'Add-on / Status Bar' of the original Noia eXtreme that David is trying to emulate through his Noia Fox. BTW, I'm using a different theme which does have the 'Close' button on the 'Add-on / Status Bar' - it's a nuisance and I'm hunting for a way to have it removed as it gets closed quite easily with an inadvertent click of the mouse. Scroll down for the screenshot of the 'Close' button.

@ AMG

The latest version of the Noia Fox is 1.1.0 - which one are you using?

@ Bunta126

The 'Tabs' of the original Noia eXtreme were *FULLY OVAL* and never *OVAL AT JUST THE TOP* (like the latest Firefox.) Remember David is trying to bring us an alternative to the erstwhile Noia eXtreme and not to Firefox 4 ;--|)

BTW, with David's first release the 'Tabs' were the way you desire - but, we protested against it beacuse the 'Tabs' looked absolutely out of place (check out my first comment on this thread and scroll down for the screenshot of how undesirable a *SEMI* oval 'Tab' looks.)

@ David

Thanks for the prompt replies

01.) The missing 'Reload / Refresh' icon seems to be a bug on MY side caused probably by the fact that I'm testing 4-5 themes at the moment (including yours and Noia 4 by aris-t2.)

02.) Glad that the green font on Noia Fox would be corrected in the following version, to display as BOLD on *SSL* sites that use 'extended validation certificates.'

03.) Unfortunately, you're right about the STRAIGHT internal border on the left-handed-side of the 'Location / Address Bar' where one types the URL / address. None of the other Developers at AMO have been able to yet skin Firefox 4 as per the Noia eXtreme theme (illustrated in the following screenshot):-

http://i52.tinypic.com/2zzkupx.jpg

Please do NOT incorporate the *CLOSE* button on the 'Add-on / Status Bar' - it's a big nuisance

http://i53.tinypic.com/2wnr4gk.jpg

Please keep the 'Tabs' *FULLY ROUNDED* - do NOT incorporate *SEMI* oval 'Tabs' (they look totally lost and clash with the retro Noia look, check out the following screenshot if you don't believe me.)

"NEW Bug & OLD Bugs" Rated 4 out of 5 stars

@ David,

Here is a new bug:-

01.) The 'Reload / Refresh' icon (after being detached from the 'Location / Address Bar) is wrongly reproduced as the 'Go back one page' icon. Check the following screenshot:-

http://i55.tinypic.com/261gguw.jpg

02.) Congratulations on resolving one of the previous bugs . . . . . . . PARTIALLY. The font on the 'Location / Address Bar' of your theme is now displayed correctly as GREEN on *SSL* sites that use 'extended validation certificates.' However, it still fails to be displayed in BOLD on such sites.

03.) The internal border on the left-handed-side of the 'Location / Address Bar' where one types the URL / address is STRAIGHT in your Noia Fox. On the original Noia eXtreme, it's ROUNDED. Check the following screenshot:-

"2 Bugs In The Location / Address Bar" Rated 4 out of 5 stars

@ David,

Here are a couple of bugs in the 'Location / Address Bar' of your Noia Fox theme on which you could maybe start working on:-

01.) The font on your 'Location / Address Bar' is lacking in 2 aspects on *HTTPS* sites - it's diplayed incorrectly as BLACK and REGULAR. The font on the original Noia eXtreme is displayed correctly as GREEN and BOLD on *SSL* sites that use 'extended validation certificates.' Check the following screenshot:-

http://i55.tinypic.com/f0x8v6.jpg

02.) The internal border on the left-handed-side of the 'Location / Address Bar' where one types the URL / address is STRAIGHT in your Noia Fox. On the original Noia eXtreme, it's ROUNDED. Check the following screenshot:-

"Mama Mia - It's Rainin' . . . . . . Noia Themes" Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi David,

This is a great initiative from you - thanks for resurrecting Kasteo's theme

Preliminary Observations:-

01.) Wish you'd opted to simultaneously improvise on the more popular black variant along with this blue one illustrated, here - the better option would be to re-develop both side-by-side and the ultimate offering would be to deliver both variants within a single add-on (on the lines of the original Developer.) Needless to say, the level of customizations in conjunction with the (optional) transparency effect featured on the black variant makes it the most gorgeous theme floating around.

02.) The shape of the tabs needs to be oblong (completely rounded at ALL the ends - not merely curved on the upper reaches.) The present rectangular one detracts from the overall Noia scheme of the theme.

03.) The tabs fail to animate when the cursor is hovered over them.

All said, though - the effect is stupendous and praiseworthy for the sheer degree of refinement considering this is just your very first release. Look forward to a lot of timely updates from your side.

"Status / Add-on Bar Skin Color Issue Unresolved" Rated 4 out of 5 stars

@ aris-t2

Have disabled all of my add-ons, restarted Firefox 4.0, enabled the add-ons to restart Firefox 4.0 once again - the issue however persists (even after installing the latest release, Noia Hack v5.1)

Something that I noticed which might interest you is that the gray area on the left-hand-side of the 'Add-on bar' which refuses to get skinned is actually nothing but a 'Flexible Space' that is removable employing the drag-n-drop method. You may check this statement by right-clicking any empty space on the tool-bar and then clicking on 'Customize...' The stubborn 'Addon-bar' (for now) continues to look as follows:-

http://i51.tinypic.com/11uaj6c.jpg

Have also come across other bugs which I'll post later on.

re: Noia FF4 Hack v5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi aris-t2,

Great job done - the Noia FF4 Hack v5 is working great and Firefox 4.0 has now started looking presentable, once again.

Have noticed something, though that needs to be looked upon as a suggestion and not as criticism. Looks like NoScript and some other select add-ons are messing up the skinning on the 'Status / Add-on bar' - please refer to the following screen-shot:-
