Enabling/disabling the extension compatability checking in FF 3.0.1 Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Using this extension I was able to make the as yet "incompatible" older version of Read Easily load and apparently work w/o conflicts to my extensions configuration for FF 3.0.1. I love Read Easily for those black background sites, or the light green text on dark tan. It is a small utility that strips style separate from content; and MR Tech Toolkit extension management allows disabling of Extensions that clearly are incompatible w/o uninstalling them but while waiting for compatibility fixes. I have four "incompatible" items manually disabled, in quarantine, but I toggled Read Easily to be enabled, and things are just fine. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.0.1).
A work around. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
A bit of history - Before the Read Easily extension was updated earlier, this kludge worked for the FF ver 1 to FF ver 2 cutover - if you have MR Tech Toolbox installed as an extension. From the main MR Tech "extensions" window, click to open the "my config" window, then from the bottom bar you can open the "options" window. There, select the misc. button, and uncheck the "enable add-ons compatability checking" box. Then a restart will have the Read Easily button installed where it had been in the earlier browser version, and working. HOWEVER after the restart, be sure everything works right - as other disabled extensions will also be enabled by that change sequence. For example, I have four other disabled add-ons I use that are "not compatible" and I manually in the main MR Tech Extensions window disabled each of them. One, Tabbrowser Preferences, (which had allowed the tab bar to be set at the window bottom), put all tab control into the ozone, no tab bar anywhere, until disabled. Another, Enhanced History Manager, installed the icon but opened up a blank window or sidebar, until disabled. BOTTOM LINE, you have disabled extensions awaiting updates - disable all but Read Easily manually, after disabling the compatibility checking. Clearly, it is a kludge, but it seems to work without interfering with FireFox and other extensions compatible with ver 3.0.1 - "seems" being the key word. No warranty that it will be problem free - you probably use a different extension set than I do. But Read Easily is such a fine utility (that the MS IE community lacks), so that the kludge was worth it for me. If you have problems with your configuration, you should be okay if you simply back out of disabling the compatabilty checking in the MR Tech "Options" window, and restore vanilla. Finally, I use default themes, and the No Script script blocker, etc., so for possible script or themes conflicting results - I cannot say much about that. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.3).
