My Reviews

translator

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

An extension like this loses its value quickly when it is not updated regularly to keep pace with changes in the translation websites it uses. At this writing, AltaVista and PROMT are the only two translation-engine options still working in 1.0.4.4, and who knows how long those will last?

Aardvark

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is my new favorite Firefox extension. I print a lot of website-generated mailing labels, but I find that websites never lay out their label printouts to fit on a half-letter-sized label. Aardvark allows me to trim them down to fit with ease.

Fast Dial

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I still love Fast Dial, but the recent update irked me as well. I did not appreciate having unrequested icons shoved into my layout, forcing me to waste 5 minutes recreating my old layout (not to mention figuring out how to find the icons that had got shoved off the bottom of the layout). Doing destructive things without the user's consent is BAD design. But for now I feel content to scrutinize any future updates before blindly agreeing to install them.

Mr Uptime

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There are only a handful of Firefox extensions I've used that haven't been upgraded to be compatible with 3.x yet, and Mr Uptime is the one I miss the most. I really hope Pingdom hasn't orphaned this.
