QuietUrl automatically converts mistyped or obfuscated URLs to valid ones, can obfuscate URLs on form submission for privacy and it also creates clickable links from text URLs, which works with incomplete URLs as well, like those in YouTube comments.
This add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox because of the following:
This extension is useful yes, but I was thinking: why simply to "tweak" the default search bar while you can improve it a lot? For example some suggestions that come in my mind are:
1_ Replace the text box with a history text box (or combobox) which shows the search history, with an option to clear it on exit.
2_ Resizable search text box, that is a splitter between the search field and the "clear" button
3_ Option to add the close button both on the right and left side (I know you can double click, but it's hard to double click where there are a lot of buttons)
4_ Search multiple/all tabs
5_ Check box or menu item to oggle normal/regex search
6_ "Search in source" menu item when you right click on the bar, to directly search the source code of the page (and showing it too, obviously, instead of first selecting "View Source" and then ctrl+F)
7_ "Search only links" check box (or something like that) to search only contents within anchors (useful for long pages or in forums, blogs and such)
8_ Search zoom (this could be a check box too) to zoom the search phrase with a bigger font in addition to highlighting it (again useful in long, small written texts)
I find this extension very useful for mass-downloads. I've also some suggestions that I think could improve add-on reliability, the first of which I think is really important:
1_ Do not stop the downloads when the add-on status window is closed. Instead, when the user closes it, put an average download status percentage on the status bar, or only a button on the status bar to re-open the status window to see how downloads are going.
2_ (Optional) Also related to the upper suggestion, possible integration with the "Download Statusbar" add-on? For example a button on it which shows (as I said above) the average percentage of downloads done for all files in dta.
I was trying to have the FireProxy add-on working but it continuously game me errors and annoying complains and I was very tired of it. I needed something simple and fast to switch on/off, nothing more than an accessible selector to proxy-surf and found this very nice extension, exactly what I was searching for.
Only some small suggestions (if you accept them) that I think could improve the user experience:
1_ Possibility to directly add a proxy manually through a menu item
2_ Possibility to select a menu command like "Add as a proxy" when you right-click on a selected text which conforms to the pattern x.x.x.x:yy
3_ Menu item "Delete Current" to delete currently selected proxy
4_ (Optional) Menu item with sub items each of which should point to a proxy list website (like those mentioned in the description) and possibly user-editable
