Can we stop getting upset here? Sometimes life happens to people, and I hope all is well with the author. In the meantime, the "homepage" in the plugin details links to github with the plugin source, and, assuming it's "abandonware" as some so lovingly call it, someone can go gather up the source and pick up the project if they'd like.
Dave S's fix didn't work for me on the already-installed plugin, but I uninstalled it, downloaded the source, made his changes, zipped it up, renamed .zip to .xpi, then dragged that file into Firefox and installed it. That worked for me. I don't guarantee that it'll work for anyone else, but if you want to give it a try, I've put the file up here:

I've installed Firefox on my grandparents' computer, and rather than try to get them to understand why it's better, I'm just trying to trick them into thinking it's still IE. I've renamed all the Firefox shortcuts to "Internet Explorer" and I've changed all their icons to that dumb blue E... your skin is gonna help complete the illusion. :-P Thanks!
