HistoryBlock

need a less aggressive mode Rated 3 out of 5 stars

hey
would be fantastic if a less aggressive mode would be introduced. you could alternate between the secure/lock down mode, and the insecure mode.

the less aggressive mode would basically permit listing and editing the blocked sites, and cause no issues for cookers/passwords, etc.
this is useful for a development environment where you need to open the same sites over and over, but don't need or want them to be logged, because it's just trash. it fills up your browsing history and mangles with the useful history you actually want to keep. private browsing does not resolves this because of cookies/passwords, and doesn't works like incognito in google chrome.

would also be great to allow users to customize exactly what would be blocked: browsing history, download history, form, etc.

BetterPrivacy

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

good addon AFAIK, works good, no slowdowns

recommended - i wish more people were informed of this and some sort of suit was made against who uses LSOs and more importantly, Adobe

Download Flash and Video

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

works quite well

quirks:
- some sites have multiple flash content serving as ads (like youporn), and it might happen that it finds all of them and you need to pick which in a not so clear way (in other sites, it separates the results better)
- lacks flexibility (through options) and support for more formats/quality

pros:
- gives files the page title name. in most cases this is good and preferable, but there should be options for this behavior
- integration with download managers
- one click-go, no ads

at the moment this addon would be my second pick

UnPlug

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

doesn't works in redtube or pornotube, but works well in youporn and youtube (as far as i have tested - didn't found the mentioned bugs)

looks really good (usability, looks, feature wise and integration) and promising and the feedback feature, if being used, is really cool as it might help developers improve the addon

worth noting is that the developers haven't released new versions since march, so it's a bit outdated/unmaintained, but not too much yet.

giving 4 out of 5 stars, citing only lack of supported sites. improve that and ill give 5 ;)

Flash Video Resources Downloader

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

have to say the same, doesn't works in firefox 3.6.3

Easy YouTube Video Downloader

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

seems to work well

the only problem is that it works only in youtube, liming usefulness with so much similar addons around

have to point out though, its the most straightforward addon for youtube and gives you direct download links (for all the video formats it supports) without any pages, boxes, dialogs or tabs.

Download Youtube Videos HD 1080p, Megavideo, Dailymotion, Vimeo, Metacafe, etc.

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

downloads were buggy for most of the sites i tested. download links go to a page filled with adds, beware

flv movies downloader

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

seems buggy, confuses sites/pages with the downloads

at a given time, while testing 4 download sources (youtube, youporn, pornotube, redtube), it only found 3 of the 4 movies, gave the same title and page url to all of them, leaving only the size and file link accurate

Chrome Package

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

the toolbar menu buttons glitch when using Chromifox adapted theme with topper

similar behaviour with Chromifox theme and Total ReChrome or Chrominfox

Chromifox Companion

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

has the same glitches as the theme - makes impossible to work with menu buttons in the toolbar...

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5).

Chromin Frame

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

great addon here

works definitely better than Total NoChrome and Total ReChrome, and i've found almost no issues

recommendation for the author - consider writing a theme to join this addon, similar to Chrominfox, but without the glitches ;)

Total ReChrome

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I've used the old Total NoChrome for a few months.
The experience was okay (there was some annoying glitches like the maximize/restore/resize behaviour) but there was a point i though, there has to be a better thing around

So i searched and found Total ReChrome and Chromin Frame... of the two i like Chromin Frame as it skins everything more like Google Chrome and also gets rid of the title bar unlike Total ReChrome

the author needs to worm a bit more on the basic version

Chromifox Basic

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

this theme is really a nice effort to mimic google chrome... however it has a severe flaw - some buttons with menus, particularly Autofill Form, Secure Login, Search box with Peers and/or Organize Search Engines, do not work well or do not work at all
unsurprisingly, it works with Chromifox Companion. the author should pay attention to the rest of the world and not just his addons.

a good point to note is that this theme, as is, does work well with Total NoChrome, Total ReChrome and Chromin Frame. I recommend Chromin Frame, its the best of the 3 chrome modifiers

FoxTab

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

imo FoxTab shouldnt be recommended. this addon is bloatware.
a more lightweight solution to look at is CTRL+Tab or Tab Catalog

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.2).

New Tab JumpStart

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

this works well, aside the effect that this is bloatware (like FoxTab, Cooliris and others) and severely eats memory away. you can expect a jump of memory usage of 30-50MB when launching firefox with 13 tabs and a fairly large amount of history/bookmarks...
we need a lightweight solution, and that's where Google Chrome is on the upper hand at the moment
