If you have trouble installing/upgrading to, you can either get it from the developer's page or or temporarily set your browser about:config page javascript.enabled parameter to false. There seems to be a javascript bug in these addons.mozilla.org pages that misidentifies the browser verision (it claimed my 38.0.1 was 31.0) and generates URLs to the wrong version.

Toggle Find Bar

I prefer it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For years I've been wanting Cmd+F to close the Find Bar, but only now looked for an extension. "Toggle Find Bar" resolves my issue perfectly.
HOWEVER...I also just learned that when the Find Bar has the focus, the Escape key can close it. If I'd known earlier, I probably would have developed the habit of always pressing Cmd+F before Esc to close. That way, one press of Cmd+F would always return lost focus to the Find Bar. With "Toggle Find Bar", two presses of Cmd+F are necessary to return focus, so I'll have to develop that habit. It is just a matter of preference.

Unwrap Text

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This thing RULES. I just tested 10 (ten) text URL extraction addons, and this is the ONLY one that handled garbage at the beginning AND middle AND end of the URL, AND didn't require the two-handed MacBook right-click dance (it provides Tools menu items, accessible with a one-button trackpad). All I have left to wish for are toolbar buttons. Tested on Firefox and 3.0.3.

Exactly what I've been looking for. But storiing the profile directory name inside of the profile directory creates potential problems and should be avoided (prefs.js:user_pref("dafi.viewsource.configPath", ...).

Handy, but it would be more useful if it ignored leading and trailing carragie returns, linefeeds, spaces, tabs, and greaterthans. Less importantly, it would also be more useful to some if it provided a toolbar button.

Stop Autoplay

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

0.7.3 broke blocked Flash; I am reverting to 0.7.2. http://verizon.promotions.com/verizonlounge/front.do
Clicking on the red frame makes the frame go away but the content fails to load, and disabling Stop Autoplay does not help without restarting the browser. This is an old problem that you fixed quite some time ago, but now in 0.7.3 it reappeared.

I tried to report this in Discussions, but I can no longer find a link to Discussions on the Add-ons page, and when I used my old link, I can no longer find a way to add a new discussion.

I tried all the tab-coloring extensions I could find (three), and I like HashColouredTabs+ best.

ChromaTabs refuses to apply URL-based colors until the tab is brought forward or moused-over. This has gone unaddressed for a while, so it doesn't seem to be currently supported. And Firefox broke it completely (though a later nightly build reportedly restored it).

ColorfulTabs changes the tab design for the worse, and exhibits rendering problems on Firefox

HashColouredTabs+ (HCT+) works well in, leaves the native tab design alone, and is more visually unobtrusive than coloring the entire tab. I keep favicons turned off in about:config anyway to reduce bookmark file bloat, so HCT+ is a good fit. I tried HCT+ a while ago when it wasn't working so well, and ended up using ChromaTabs. I feel lucky that broke ChromaTabs and caused me to try HCT+ again.

(Author: note that HCT+ does not appear in the search results for "color tabs" or "tab colors" at addons.mozilla.org, while ChromaTabs and ColorfulTabs do. It seems the plurals are missing from the HCT+ page search terms.)

Toolbar Buttons

1 of ny 2 most must-haves Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is one of my 2 most must-have addons, along with Flashblock. All because of the Java and Javascript enable control buttons. But I couldn't give it a 10 rating because the button colors are backwards (read=enabled, green=disabled), and because it lacks buttons to block text blinking and GIF animations. That can be done with about:config, but my mom (and yours) should be able to control these too.

1 of 2 most must-haves! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

FlashBlock plain rocks. One of my 2 most must-have extensions, in addition to Toolbar Buttons (to block Java and Javascript). Just be careful not to turn off Javascript while on a page with Flash being blocked, otherwise the developer says the Flash plugin crashes and takes Firefox with it. He also says the fault lies with Mozilla which has a longstanding Javascript bug. Here's hoping Mozilla fixes it!
