No More Install Delay No Restart

UPDATE: XPI delay has been removed in Firefox 40!

Disable the install delay in Firefox. New 2.0 version now includes GreaseMonkey scripts!

Unlike similar addons, this works on Firefox 4 and beyond.

My Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Still works on Firefox 40, even if it claims to be incompatible. If you have trouble, be sure to install the checkCompatibility addon.

Auto Unload Tab

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Deliberately removing the ability to use maxtabs and the timer at the same time is not acceptable. It worked back in 0.7.1. It's been broken since 0.7.2, yet you've made multiple updates since then, apparently greying out the options rather than fixing them.

You can't have updates that break features. Normally I'd give you time to fix it, but the way you are talking, it seems you aren't going to. If you do fix it, my review will change. And, like I said, there have been 5 updates since it broke.

Until then, I'm using 0.7.1, which would have gotten 5 stars.

Hacked version Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In case the reviews get deleted again, I uploaded this here at AMO. Just search for Flashblock hack 34.

(Direct links seem to require review.)

Patching alternative Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In the bug report, we've found that the patch doesn't work on every website. But there are alternatives.

1. Go to Addon > Plugins and set Flash to "Ask to Activate"
2. Download the "Click to Play per element" addon.
3. If you want, you can also download "Click to play manger" to directly mess with your whitelist, and "Hide Plugin Notifications" to avoid the notice you get when Flash is blocked.

It works just like Flashblock, except you click the icon in the address bar to enable Flash for a web page.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for HTML5 videos. The best plugin I've found for that is "Videos without Flash." It has an option to takeover all HTML5 videos, which means you'll have to click to activate. Unfortunately, it has no whitelist.

If you must have the original, though, search for Flashblock hack 34. I can't link it directly.

Click-to-Play Manager

Feature requests Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Seems to work well. The missing star is fpr two missing features. First off, you need a button (disabled by default). People who aren't developers are likely to remove Developer Options from their Firefox menu. A separate button is a nice fallback.

Second, you need to fix the table so that the columns can be resized.

Video WithOut Flash

Well designed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I got this only to disable the flash player, as it maxes out my CPU for some reason, when no other video site does. I really like that I had the option to disable it everywhere else.

As for people complaining about YouTube, I have a suggestion. Just turn on the HTML5 player from YouTube, and shut it off in the addon.

Designer: Make your addon do that, as well, so it won't mess up the comments. If you have to switch to HTML5 for embeds, that's fine, but just use the built in YouTube option for videos on the main YouTube site.

Remember Passwords

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm giving this 5 stars because it was good while it was useful. But now it actually breaks the password manager in Firefox 31 or higher. You need to make the addon incompatible with Firefox 31.

History Button

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This addon would be perfect if it played well with Australis. It's both missing an icon and is too large to work properly in the new Firefox Menu. If you could fix it to have a new icon and restrict its size to the same as the other Australis buttons, I would love to use this addon.

Unfortunately, the fact that I can't use it makes me drop two stars, even though I support the idea. Fix this, and I will change it to five stars.

My Image Here

Still mostly works on Firefox 26 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

You can't use the "clear all" feature, but everything else still works fine, if you disable compatibility checking (using the addon "Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks")

Remember Passwords

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does what it's supposed to do. "

(AFAIK, Gmail doesn't need this addon.)

Gmail Notifier (restartless)

A+ Developer Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The only thing that would make it better would be the option to open a panel that showed a list of all your emails, instead of automatically opening the first unread email, and making you jump through them one at a time. I've filed an issue about this.

My other requests were answered. Although I'm still waiting on the above, the response was so good that I am bumping this up to five stars. I absolutely love developers who listen and realize that their users are important.

Cleanest Addon Manager

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Suggestions: reduce size of restart and incompatibility warnings. Allow option to condense buttons on the left to just their icons (like Firefox does automatically if the addon window is too small). Option to reduce size of buttons on right ("Options", "Disable", "Remove")--perhaps replace them with icons. Change default to minimal adaptive, as it is cleaner.

I know this is a CSS hack, so I won't ask for features.

Suspend Tab

Pretty good, but Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Like pretty much all my reviews, I really like this addon, but feel it is missing something. In this case, I would like to see an option to also go by how many tabs one has open, instead of just by time. So if I open more than, say, 10 tabs, the first ones I opened get suspended. Honestly, that would be more useful to me than one based on time.Still, I'm quite impressed with what you've come up with. This addon should pretty much be built into Firefox as the default. It would certainly hush those who complain about memory.

Adendum: I'm docking off one more star for failing to do something you claim it can do. It is not keeping the metadata on scroll position. This is something even unloading the tab can do--or, at least, it does on app restart. This is really annoying.

Private Tab

Good, but needs options Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There need to be options for how to change the text labels on private tabs. Perhaps even an option to use a special favicon.

REPLY: If I'm understanding you correctly, I'd just put them in anyways (change the userChrome.css yourself) and, if an extension messes it up, it messes it up. But I don't see why it wouldn't also mess up the blue underline.

Thanks for the workaround, anyways.

Private Browsing Personas

Works, but Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It does what it says it would do, but I would love an addon that let me pick a different persona for private browsing.

I can't believe they were dumb enough to do this intentionally. I just assumed it was a mistake. Different persona--good. Only default persona--bad.

Download Panel Tweaks

No delete file feature Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Sorry, but the delete file feature is really important. This is so close to being a replacement for the original Download Manager Tweak for the new Download panel.

At least look into it. You've released an addon to the public. Just because you won't use it doesn't mean you should not even try. If it's too hard, fine. But please at least look. You may even be able to copy code from Download Manager Tweak.

Vlc context menu

4.5 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Yeah, I'm rounding up. This works really well, but to get the final half star, I'd like to see the following:

1. Proper capitalization: The menu item should be "Add URL to VLC playlist."

2. More defaults, like .m4v, so I don't have to add that manually.

3. Better vlc.exe detection. I had it installed in the default (Windows 32-bit) location, and yet the addon still couldn't find it automatically. (Even better would be to check the registry in Windows)

Yeah, these are all nitpicks. But that's all that's wrong with this addon. It's almost perfect!

BTW, it would seem that it would be pretty easy to convert this into a more generic addon. Add a place for command line options and let people pick their preferred executable, and it would work with any media player. Then all you'd need is some default settings for common media programs and to change the context menu (perhaps giving an option to change it), and you'd be set.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does exactly what it says it will! Sure, there are some files that won't work, but that's what the Force Content Type addon is for.

Update Scanner

Still counts some numbers Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Yep, that's a major flaw. It counts the followers and hours since each post on Twitter. The very first update it didn't, but it did every time after that. That would have been only one star, but I threw in an extra one for the nice interface. The way it acts when it gets an update is nice.

But the addon does not work as it says it will work, so it cannot get an average (3 stars) or above review. I had to uninstall this because I couldn't use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon does exactly what it's designed to do. The fact that somebody (nobutan) can't understand what it's for doesn't change the fact that it does what it' supposed to.

Seriously, if you don't understand something, don't review it. And especially don't be a jerk about it.
