Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more.

Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).
Collector's Note Ever since I started using this add-on, I feel vulnerable when browsing without it. Ads are getting really weird nowadays...

Firebug by Joe Hewitt, Jan Odvarko, others

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 1,793 reviews

2,317,059 users

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page...
Collector's Note This is a very powerful tool when used with the proper swarm. Personally, I use EventBug, FireBug, and FireDiff as my swarm. Others may want to use different tools. Either way, this thing is extremely powerful and customizable.

DownThemAll! by Nils Maier, Federico Parodi, others

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 1,614 reviews

1,365,361 users

The first and only download manager/accelerator built inside Firefox!
Collector's Note This thing gives you total control over your downloads. It includes checksum verification features for those sites that actually provide one for their files. It has the dTA One-Click feature so you can set a folder you always download to, then download items in very little time. Then there's the customization of active downloads, file segments, and concurrent server connections. When used properly, you can get some extreme download speeds.

NoScript Security Suite by Giorgio Maone

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 1,505 reviews

2,262,475 users

The best security you can get in a web browser!
Allow active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS and Clickjacking attacks.
Collector's Note This add-on is the shield of your operations of sorts. You control which scripts run and which scripts do not, for each webpage that you visit. This is very useful for avoiding malicious scripts or for when you don't like being tracked.

Web of Trust, WOT: Website Reputation Ratings by WOT Services

Rated 3 out of 5 stars 1,644 reviews

1,051,623 users

Find out which websites you can trust. WOT adds intuitive traffic light-style icons next to search results and URLs so you can decide whether to visit a site:
• Green – The site is trusted
• Yellow – Be cautious
• Red – Online threats detected
Collector's Note I like this one. It gives me a fairly good idea of whether I can trust a site. I've worked quite extensively with the add-on. I can legitimately say that the system they use is a good one. I've watched how the rating system works, and I participate in the user community there.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 449 reviews

760,499 users

Fight the text ads! Element Hiding Helper is a companion extension for Adblock Plus meant to make creating element hiding rules easier.
Collector's Note Gives you somewhat greater control when using Adblock Plus.

FoxyProxy Standard by Eric H. Jung, groeg, others

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 343 reviews

297,407 users

FoxyProxy is an advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Firefox's limited proxying capabilities. For a simpler tool and less advanced configuration options, please use FoxyProxy Basic.
Collector's Note I think the add-on's reputation should speak for itself.

JavaScript Deobfuscator by Wladimir Palant

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 20 reviews

56,045 users

This add-on shows you what JavaScript code runs on a web page, even if it is obfuscated and generated on the fly. Simply open JavaScript Deobfuscator from the Web Developer menu and watch the scripts being compiled/executed.
Collector's Note There are times when I like to know what is running on a site I'm visiting. That's when I use this tool.

DownThemAll! AntiContainer by Nils Maier

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 34 reviews

77,602 users

Make the resources behind container pages easily downloadable by DownThemAll!
Collector's Note Adds some extra features to DownThemAll. This helps you get around some of the annoying things put up to prevent right-click downloads.

Config Descriptions by Dave G

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 20 reviews

2,340 users

Shows source comments for advanced application preferences in about:config
Collector's Note For those of you daring enough to modify the about:config settings (LOG EVERYTHING YOU DO - I HAVE LEARNED FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE). This gives you some basic descriptions of some of the settings in the about:config page. While not always the most useful, I'm now shooting in a semi-lit room rather than in the dark.

Image Source Copier by Andrew Ducker

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 5 reviews

257 users

Copies the HTML source for an image to the clipboard.
Collector's Note This is one of the little guys with huge potential. It adds an item to the context menu (right-click) for images, which copies the HTML source for the image. Perfect for grabbing the image reference and alt text from xkcd.com
