Adblock Plus by Wladimir Palant

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 4,842 reviews

20,622,050 users

Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more.

Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).
Collector's Note Sometimes those flashy ads on the side of the page just get annoying. With this add-on, you can subscribe to a list of banned advertisement websites and never have to worry about them again!

Video DownloadHelper by mig

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 5,264 reviews

5,080,738 users

The easy way to download and convert Web videos from hundreds of YouTube-like sites.
Collector's Note This really useful addon allows you to download videos from sites like YouTube.

Xmarks Sync by Xmarks Inc.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 2,508 reviews

331,884 users

Xmarks is the #1 bookmarking and open tab add-on. Keep your bookmarks, and open tabs backed up and synchronized across computers and browsers. Mobile phones with Premium access. Utilize LastPass to sync passwords!
Collector's Note Because I regularly use both my desktop and my laptop, this add-on is perfect for me. If I add a bookmark on one computer, it shows up on my other next time I use it!

Personas Plus by Mozilla

Rated 3 out of 5 stars 951 reviews

435,074 users

Personas are free, easy-to-install "skins" for Firefox. Personas Plus extends that built-in functionality to give you even more control and easier access to new, popular, and your own favorite Personas.
Collector's Note If you're not running Glasser, this is a nice addon that allows you to personalize your Firefox to the max! (Note: if you're running Firefox 3.6, personas are [apparently] supported automatically!)

Fast Dial by telega

Experimental

Rated 3 out of 5 stars 2,447 reviews

155,912 users

Visual bookmarks for Firefox. (Works with all latest versions of Firefox)
Collector's Note This recreates the "New Tab" page and fills it with your favorite links. This is similar to Chrome's feature and Opera's "Speed Dial."

SmoothWheel by Avi Halachmi

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 242 reviews

48,269 users

Scrolls the page smoothly when scrolling the mouse wheel (or keyboard arrows if enabled).
Collector's Note This nice little addon makes scrolling look and feel a lot smoother. You can set custom scrolling speeds and frame rates. I wouldn't say this is essential, but it can be nice to have.

Add to Search Bar by Dr. Evil

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 588 reviews

92,306 users

Make any pages' search functionality available in the Search Bar (or "search box")...
Collector's Note This add-on is useful particularly when I first install Firefox and am customizing it to my liking. With it, I can add any search engine to the Firefox search utility, including Facebook, YouTube, Wikipedia, Mozilla Add-ons, Hulu, or pretty much anything I want.

Download Statusbar by C.J.

Experimental

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 1,461 reviews

564,338 users

View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar - without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.

Thanks Tekzilla for your awesome review! Click here to see their video: http://youtu.be/BUDqWrJ-Vao
Collector's Note Rather than opening a completely new "Downloads" window when you download a file, this just adds a status bar at the bottom of the window to show the download progress. Of course, you can still get to the normal download window by pressing ctrl+J. This is very similar to Chrome's download system.

Fission by zeniko

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 376 reviews

6,333 users

Fission combines address bar and progress bar (Safari style). This makes the progress bar more visible and allows for a nice visual effect.
Collector's Note This is a nice little add-on which makes the URL bar also the loading bar (like in Safari).

Google Reader Watcher by Ajnasz

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 105 reviews

1,950 users

Checks your Google Reader for unread news
Collector's Note As a regular Google Reader user, I like being able to see how many subscriptions I have waiting for me at the bottom-right of my Firefox window. That way, I don't have to constantly check the site, itself.
