Adblock Plus by Wladimir Palant

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 4,862 reviews

21,757,888 users

Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more.

Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).
Collector's Note Without Adblock Plus I wouldn't be able to listen to a song on MySpace or browse around some of the mainstream websites due to their highly annoying use of advertisements plastered all over the place. This makes browsing those websites at least bearable.

DownThemAll! by Nils Maier, Federico Parodi, others

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 1,570 reviews

The first and only download manager/accelerator built inside Firefox!
Collector's Note Makes downloading files a breeze by selecting multiple links to files on a website using filters. This way you can easily select all pdf's on a page and download them for future reference.

Greasemonkey by Anthony Lieuallen, Aaron Boodman, others

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 946 reviews

1,361,428 users

Customize the way a web page displays or behaves, by using small bits of JavaScript.
Collector's Note I haven't been using Greasemonkey that often lately, but I keep it just in case I need it.

Stylish by Jason Barnabe

Restyle the web with Stylish, a user styles manager. Stylish lets you easily install themes and skins for Google, Facebook, YouTube, Orkut, and many, many other sites. You can even customize Firefox and other programs themselves.
Collector's Note I tend to read a lot of reference material and manuals written by mostly very smart folks. Most of it is enlightening on an intellectual level, but aesthetically it usually is an eye sore. Stylish allows me to make the information more pleasant to the eyes by giving me the ability to create my own stylesheets and apply them to sites.

Vimperator by maxauthority, gkatsev

Make Firefox look and behave like Vim
Collector's Note If you don't like to use your mouse each time you browse the web or if you've learned the Vim editor shortcuts by heart this is the plugin to use. It allows you to use your browser in a Vim like fashion. I'm especially fond of the lack of screen estate it needs. Works great with a smaller 10" netbook screen!
