Excellente add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on for managing PDF in Zotero Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I downloaded the new version (4.1) on github: https://github.com/jlegewie/zotfile/releases. (The version on AOM is currently 3.1)

Zotfil is so great to extract the highlights and comments made on the pdf and to store them in Zotero. Also, new feature in the version 4, you can extract the TOC (but there is a bug: the link only open the pdf on the first page, not were the chapter starts). But this is a small inconvenience compare to what Zotfile enables us to do!

Not perfect but gets the job done Rated 4 out of 5 stars

First of all I would like to say that I'm very glad that someone took the initiative to develop something like this. Zotero needs tablet sharing bad, and this addon is a step in the right direction.

I give 4 of 5 because the syncing isn't all that straight forward, and you have to keep track of versions and do the syncing manually. It would be nice to have e.g. Goodreader (iPad app) synced up with your whole lib., so that you wouldn't have to prepared your files in Zotero on the desktop beforehand. Not sure if this is something that can be done with this addon, might need an app like ZotPad (iPad app) to handle the lib. sync and temp. download of pdf files for reading in 3. party pdf app.

Overall great addition to Zotero, especially for people who do their reading on tablets. Couldn't live without it!

Newer version available from the Github release page Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Essential add-on for Zotero. There is a newer version available at https://github.com/jlegewie/zotfile/releases

I'm not sure why it's not on here yet, but the author says he submitted version 3.2 already, so it should only be a matter of time until it appears here.

I have been stuck in the mozilla review process for month. I hope that the new version (now 4.0) will be available over the next weeks but can't process anything. Very frustrating process. For the time being, the new version is available from these sites:

great tool! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just love the automatic extraction of annotations! Is there a possibility to automatize this even further in giving an option to extract those notes automatically after each pdf file modification?
Anyhow this is great work and I haven't even explored most of the features yet!

Zotfile makes Zotero even greater!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Zot file is really fantastic. I have been meaning to install it for about a year and am so glad I did. I am using it with Zotero Standalone 4.0.11 (on Widows 8) and on my Samsung Note 10.1 Android tablet with Repligo Reader via DropBox in the cloud. FANTASTIC!! Working are send to & get from table (brilliant features), color-coded tags for _tablet and tablet_modified, renaming attachments and extracting annotations (amazing feature).

Very Useful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful addon that helps streamline my workflow and increase productivity.

I only have a few small suggestions/questions:

1. when using this with zotero standalone, I have to click a popup to move the newly added files to the custom folder. Is there a way to make this automatic? or at least to make already added files be moved to the custom folder

2. custom renaming of files is fantastic - but it would be perfect if I could also add the arXiv prefix to the filename (stored in zotero field "report number"

3. I like the idea of customizing the tablet folder directories, but I don't use this.. I instead get files to the tablet by storing the pdfs in dropbox and annotating them from there. The annotations are then instantly on my desktop version. So it would be great to have the same folder customization in the 'desktop' custom folder.

Thank you again!

Terrific add-on, well worth a donation. The whole Zotero to Devonthink integration business is a bore, and there's no easy or totally automated solution. With this I can at least have a separate folder for my attachments (so, not just having them spread among many folders in the Zotero hierarchy) and can use that folder as a base to annotate the pdfs and share it with Devonthink. This add-on then pulls back the annotated pdfs into Zotero and sucks the annotations into a note. Beautiful. I can see how this is a boon for tablet users. Now, if only Devonthink had something like Zotfile to pull annotations out of pdfs and store them as notes, the whole deal would be much better.

Great, could be perfect with a little more work Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great add-on, but adding a little more flexibility to the file renaming and moving functions would be helpful. Specifically:
<br>1) it would be great to have Zotfile be able to add a tag (like new) to the file name (based on a Zotero tag)<br><br>2) it would be great to have the file destination (when adding a file) be customizable to mirror the zotero storage folder. Ie: if the citation is stored in my root/CDS/GLINDA/MMDA folder in Zotero, then Zotfile would move the file to a [user-selected root folder]/CDS/GLINDA/MMDA folder on my OS (and create that folder if it does not already exist).<br><br>These functions would make ZotFile work seamlessly with DropBox and DropBox-syncing iPad readers/annotators such as PDF Expert.

check out the zotfile 2 beta, which has many features to streamline the process of working with your tablet through dropbox and even extracts the pdf annotation added in PDF Expert of with other readers:

Great, but needs update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Works great, but the maximum version currently supported is limited to 7.*, so it needs to be updated for Firefox 8.

I would like to see addiontal functionality such as the ability to save different files (paper, books, magizines etc) to different locations such as my paper's folder on my local disk and my books folder on my external hardrive
