Why was Youtube Tooltip created?
Like many add-on developers, I created this add-on to address a need I was having. I was a frequent visitor to forums and was frequently presented with non-descript links to Youtube. A lot of the times these links were informative or entertaining, but many other times these links were garbage. I decided that I wanted a way to display more information about a Youtube link before I clicked on it. I was familiar with add-on development for Firefox and knew that Youtube had an API that I could use, so I created this add-on.
What's next for Youtube Tooltip
I personally dislike when a simple add-on that works well is suddenly turned into a monster that does 101 different things, becomes bloated, and is harder to use. I created this add-on to be simple and I want it to stay that way. I plan on investigating different video sites to see if they provide information through an API. If a site does, then it should be trivial to add that site into Youtube Tooltip without making the add-on a monster.
