Good idea but i agree that blocking user-defined words would make it brilliant.

You should make the "Block Questions" option, it will filter out comments start with "how" "why" "where do I" and end with "?".
because on YouTube, many people ask stupid questions

Right up my alley!
No more profanity!
(you should make it be able to block user-defined words- that would make it perfect!)

Youtube isn't the only site that can benifit from this Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a wonderful idea, I love it! One thought though, another website that is in dire need of an add-on like this is yahoo answers. Also adding a way to block posts with certain user-defined keywords or phrases would be good too as many snobbish comments in yahoo answers end with things like 'thanks for the 2 points'

Thank you, this addon helps lower my blood pressure a little. I will be looking forward to something similar for phbBB forums as well.

~SUGGESTION~ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a good add-on, but I had an idea that could be a useful implementation. Is it possible to hide any comments that show up more than once? This would get rid of those annoying chain letters on Youtube. Please give this some consideration if possible. Thank you.

Pretty good, misdirected a little Rated 4 out of 5 stars

But I think multiple dictionary support would be good, youtube comments are sometimes in British english and American english, whitelisting of words, for people who don't really mind stuff like im instead of I'm.

And I'm not sure if it knows the difference between a spelling mistake and a word it doesn't know. Maybe checking the comment against a bad list would work better than checking it against a dictionary.

Parents - you need to try this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It does exactly what it claims. I don't chase through pages of comments, so I have had no detectable performance issues. Any household where children have access to YouTube will probably find this add-on a blessing. My experience with it is fast leading me to the conclusion that it would be small loss if all YouTube comments went away. I recommend keeping the misspelling filter at 2 or lower, but then, I truly am a snob.

Absolutely wonderful add-on. I only wish that it had support for forums like IPB and social networking sites like Facebook.

Great concept but... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The concept is great but the implementation is poor.

How come does this not allow blacklisting of words? The "Filter all profanity" works for only one language and might have words that I don't want to filter.

How come I can't choose to block comments of three words or less? Or similar.

How come the spell checker works for only one language? As a Finn I need to choose whether to see only English or only Finnish comments if I use it.

And how come I am not allowed to make combinations? (IE. block comments of three words or less that contain the word "sucks")

The concept is great but all the important and useful features are missing. Three stars as this could be developed to something useful.

I suppose it makes me a snob, but i like this Add-on. I can do without 90% of the comments on YT, and far too often i can't help myself and still read that trash. No more :)

cool feature but.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This sounds cool, but really now please get over yourself, you really get yourselves worked up about comments left by trolls, racists, ill formed, bad spellers, people who use modern slang, lolspeak, etc. I think if you do then you have the real problem. I mean c'mon people are dying on the streets everyday and your gonna get worked up about some words. lololololol really now. your just censoring yourself from whats really out there, have fun becoming the ill formed on the internet when you don't know what people are talking about because you censored the comments. lololol, cool idea though, and respect to the programmer :)

Save your sanity! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

People who leave useless or obnoxious comments usually can't be bothered to type properly. YouTube Comment Snob takes advantage of this, and simple settings let you choose what gets blocked. It's quick, easy, and the best solution for comment blocking I've ever seen.

Thank you, Christopher!

You are a true hero. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Mr. Finke, you have done a great service for this wonderful Internet of ours. This extension has served as a reprieve from my otherwise hopeless spiral downward into frustration-induced insanity.

Great add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was so tired of comments by the ignorant, prejudiced, hate mongering, 10-year-old-seeming dip!@#s who obviously have no life and flock to YouTube to spread their disease, that I started avoiding the site all together. Despite my best attempts to ignore the comments I always seemed to glance down, get pulled in to reading them, and be delighted with the wonderful reflection of humanity that it is. With this plug-in I can set the "hide comments with _ or more spelling errors" to zero, which will hide all comments automatically. Now I have to actually hit the "show" link if I want to read anything, which is a temptation I can resist. Cool.

Totally amazing. The worst part of youtube is the racist, vulgar morons littering the comments. Thank you to creator of this!
