Needs a timer option Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There used to be an option, that allowed the user to specify when syncing was to be done. That is no-longer the case. Syncing is now done when some internal script is activated by something else. That is more than a little annoying. Xmarks syncs about 4 to 6 times a day on my PC. That really p****s me off, especially when the syncing happens in the middle of downloading stuff or when I'm on the webcam.

I live in a country where internet access is not fantastic so my "DSL" is appropriately slow and is being shared with several others. So when xmarks syncs up, not only does my connection slow down but the connection for everyone else who is online as well.

I want to have the option, which the old Foxmarks had, to set when syncing happens. That would make this add-on perfect.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.3.2).

Try manual sync

You can easily disable the auto-sync function and instead sync manually only when you ask it to. This has always been a feature. Simply visit your Xmarks settings to disable the automatic sync. You can sync manually via the Xmarks menu in Tools, the Xmarks icon in the status bar, the button in the settings dialog, or via keyboard shortcut. Enjoy! (What we don't have, nor have we ever, is a setting that allows you to specify an interval for auto-sync. So if that's what you were looking for you may be thinking of some other add-on.)
