Highly recommended for peace of mind and safer web surfing experience. Know what web sites to visit/avoid. Works extremely well with Site Advisor (double protection!!!) and simple to install and update.

Fantastic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Absolutely fabulous, it runs in the background and gives a sense of safety. I esp. love the search engine support, so you can see the rating before you click on it!

Great idea, but the color scheme is not friendly to my red/green color blindness. I had to remove.

Re: Color blindness

You can switch to a color blind accessible user interface from Tools -> WOT -> Settings -> Advanced.

Very Good...But Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I've been using WOT for only a couple weeks and am not that familiar with it. However, it's been my experience so far that it seems a somewhat reliable and interactive security tool...but I think that it's less objective than Site Advisor and, hence, more subject to overly-cautious and/or gratuitous ratings.

Great Preventive Measure Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Will block off harmful sites/pop-up pages and display a warning until you give the go-ahead to interact with the site. Takes away the uncertainty of clicking on google links; I don't chance anything but green sites.

Weaving a Web of Trust Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent concept of applying the principals of crowdsourcing to internet security. Getting closer to the Tipping Point every day.

There is a brief video overview of how it works here

This is an excellent security tool. I have been able to steer clear of unwanted sites and attached bugs. It has also enhanced the safety factor for my children. Great add-on, everyone should try.

Excellent Add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is one of the best add-ons I have! Although it is updated by other users, like Wikipedia, it is mostly reliable for thousands of sites and a great tool to find out if a certain sites is genuine or if it gives malware or rogue software. This is a must have for Firefox and Internet Explorer!

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

WOT is great for giving an extra layer of protection when I surf and explore new websites. It has helped my to avoid dangerous sites and stay out of trouble. I have found site ratings accurate. Users can also rate sites and submit comments and I have noticed that WOT listens their users. Excellent addon!

Retraction of previously poor review Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Upon considerable further investigation and review of this technology, I believe I was overly critical and retract my previous poor review of this addon.

WOT may very well provide a valuable and unintrusive (until needed) early warning system.

The MyWOT registration process claimed it would email a password and further instructions. After nearly 24 hours, I finally received a password change email inviting me to set/change my password. That whole part of the process was clumsy and confusing, but otherwise I've found the service to be of substantial benefit.

Apologies for the overly critical previous review formerly occupying this spot.

Re: No Password after 12 hours

Thomas,

Sorry, our service provider had a major outage, which caused some email delivery problems. These should be sorted out now, so if you don't receive a message shortly, please send a note to support@mywot.com. Of course, you can still use the add-on even without creating an account, it's completely optional.

Concerns about privacy are certainly understandable and we've done our best to protect it. For example, the add-on only sends our servers enough information for loading ratings. It won't tell us which pages you visit or what you searched. We won't even keep your IP address. You can read more from our privacy policy: http://www.mywot.com/privacy

WOT is completely different from AVG's LinkScanner. It doesn't generate any traffic to the sites you visit. Our aim isn't to replace Adblock Plus or NoScript either, we merely provide additional information about websites and allow you to share your experiences with others.

Finally, you can definitely change your password once your account has been activated. In fact, we even recommend it.

Safe from browser exploits my ass Rated 2 out of 5 stars

"Keep yourself safe from online threats such as: Browser exploits"

Only that's a lie. WOT *won't* prevent the malicious website from loading, so if the website doesn't ask first you're out of luck. If you want to protect yourself against browser exploits, use NoScript or BlockSite.

Re: Safe from browser exploits my ass

If you don't want to load sites with poor ratings, you can turn on blocking from Tools -> WOT -> Settings and prevent even browser exploits from those sites. Of course, using NoScript too wouldn't hurt.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Like Wikipedia, it relies on user input, and is thus imperfect. Like Wikipedia, it is a fantastic and free tool. The more users, the better it will get. If you are worried that it will not prevent you from overriding it's recommendations, get your mother to hold your hand while you surf. And get some better anti-virus. If you think it has an inaccurate site rating, help correct the consensus easily and quickly, as that is the whole basis of this add-on.

смысл этого дополнения Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Do Not Go By Site Advisor Rated 5 out of 5 stars

its mind boggling how many people think a site is safe because site advisor says it is.

truth is wot goes by blacklists, and other users experience meaning its the most accurate anti-phishing addon, on the market.

site advisor is bias going solely by their own av and how many ppl complain. they ignore blacklists altogether.

as for the ppl who rate it low saying its overkill. use the damn product before rating it, if u used it, you wouldnt say its overkill. this is one of the 1st addons i install because it protects you. better safe then sorry.
