Doesn't differentiate between tabs and windows. If I could choose to only close windows and not tabs, this add-on would be perfect.

This ad-on is very good as it helps to reduce the stress of opening many tabs and windows just to the number you restrict them.

But, the area of selective option is not good at all, but needs some improvement. But the area of disabling the add on thru extension should be looked into as that is the best way to lock out people that do not have admin right on the system.

Kudos to the developer and well-done

I like the 'Force' setting. I would probably spend a few hours a week grappling with excessive tabs if it were not for this addon. Priceless.

This extension is perfect for my need.. :-)

This is the perfect extension for my mother, who never closed windows and tabs and mysteriously slows down their computer

Helpful and works as advertised, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I do wish the warning would come up only when I actually open a new tab or window, not because I just refreshed or surfed to a new page in an existing tab while over the limit. Also, the ability to mark specific tabs or pages as excluded from the count would be great.

Too many tabs drive me bonkers. Thanks so much!

Anoying and irritating Rated 1 out of 5 stars

No setting for windows and tabs separately, tabs ate counted as windows as well. For example if you want to keep 1 window and 10 tabs, this is not possible.

When it closes windows/tabs, it keeps the automatically opened windows (they should actually be closed) and closes the ones that we opened our-self !!.

I wanted to create a dumb single window browser for my 4 year old so he doesn't end up with 50 windows, this does the trick. However, have a look at this one for seamlessly killing tabs... http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/_tabkiller.html.en

Great plugin, my productivity and system performance definitely improved from this addon

Cannot specify Tab OR Window - it will tell you to close either one. So those websites that open an advertisement by just clicking anywhere on the screen, you can't use tabs either.

Nice plugin but.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

When it prompts me to close a window, it should also ask me if I want to bookmark the tab I am being forced to close. Just a suggestion..What would be really cool for a future version would be for an arrow to hover over the tab you want to close so you can view which tab you are closing, instead of just having a cluster f****ed list of pages to close...just another suggestion...I know you like our 2 cents right?

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Fantastic addon! Just the thing I need to curb my ~60 tabs a day habit!

Can I suggest a fourth mode?

"Restrict: If the user tries to exceed the maxumum amount of opened windows/tabs, they will be presented with a simple message advising that they have reached the limit, and need to close off one or more windows/tabs to open any new ones."

I use a web based job tracking tool for work, and it's crucial that I submit changes to my open forms before closing them off. This would force me to go back and make sure that the forms were completed and updated, before being forced to close them, or start new tasks.

Sometimes, like a horse that could use a good pair of blinders, I find myself needing to stay focused during my work day, and with this and Leechblock, I'm very well able to stay undistracted by regular (bad) web surfing habits. With one tab for music and another for my main task, I have to derail what I'm working on to goof around, and that fact keeps me on a relative straight and narrow. Very happy with this add-on, which never causes crashes, is simple to manage, and is very, very effective. Once I have a few bucks to donate I will.

Not for heavy tab users! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

When doing research I often have 100+ tabs open. Setting the limit to 100 tabs and reopening a session that had 120 tabs forced me to kill firefox and wipe my session or hit cancel 120 times.

Been using now for a long time. Still a great addon!

I am now using this addon on all four of my OS's. It's still perfect, and does exactly what it is designed to do. Let you know when you've reached YOUR preset limit for open tabs, and nag you until you do something about it.

Every poor review here except one is baseless. This addon is not a popup blocker. To complain it doesn't work as one is just ridiculous. There are no "bugs" but it could use some few improvements a program not working the way you want it to is not a bug. A bug is when a program does things it shouldn't. This one does nothing it shouldn't do as far as I can tell. I don't even understand the suggestion to put a warning dialog in it. It has a warning dialog. It opens by default unless you set it to silent mode, gives you a list of all open tabs in all windows, and allows YOU to choose which ones should be closed.

Some added features might be nice, but frankly I don't think they are a good idea.

@ the developer: If I were you I would ditch silent mode altogether until you get it working in a more sophisticated manner. (with settings we can set to determine its behavior). I know that could be complicated and probably tend to be buggy. I would just get rid of it.

@users considering this addon: Keep in mind that tabs ARE windows. There is no difference. The only difference is in how they are displayed. Therefore, "windows" and "tabs" within this addon are the same thing. When the alert pops up, you get list of ALL tabs in ALL windows. It doesn't differentiate between tabs in one window or another. You've got to READ the list, and THINK.

This is not a lazy man's addon.

It is a simple way for you to limit your own sloppy behavior, and nag you to clean up after yourself.

It also a fantastic tool for Administrators. Install this thing on all your department computers, set it to "Force" and set a password. It'll force your users to clean up their acts, and quit wasting your time complaining their programs won't respond.

Silent mode fix Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Please fix the silent mode to close the latest opened tab or give us the ability to choose either to close the first or the last!
