- Rated 1 out of 5by JohnyJohny, 2 months agoexactly the same problem as many people here. The app is excellent until the password doesn't work and you lost all your bookmarks. For me, it's the second time and I quite.
It's mentionned that you have to make regulary backup but bookmarks are not enough critical to setup a professionnel backup process, we don't want to worry about backup. - Rated 1 out of 5by RH, 3 months agoIt works until it doesn't. I found exactly the same as many other reviewers: this add-on has a lot of great features, and it works well... until it doesn't. The Private Bookmarks password fails to work after some time. Twice I used this add-on to save bookmarks... and twice, for no apparent reason, the password is no longer remembered by the extension, so I can't unlock these bookmarks. With that, the bookmarks are gone forever. This is a great concept that unfortunately fails at a critical point.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Steve, 4 months agoIt worked great for months until it didn't.
I'm not sure what broke it but possibly my MacOS upgrade to 14.6. Suddenly Firefox wouldn't respond to the Shift-Option-8 hotkey, which is where you enter your password.
I tried reinstalling the add-on, rebooting, etc. Unfortunately, it's evident that I also lost all those private bookmarks in the process, which weren't so much private but archived in Private Bookmarks so they wouldn't be accidentally deleted.
I filed a bug report with the developer last week but I haven't received an acknowledgement of it and the bug hasn't been assigned. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13906799, 6 months agoThis stopped working after the latest FF update. Password does not unlock bookmarks. Broken and abandoned extension by the dev.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Danny Champ, a year agoThere may well be a private folder, hidden behind a password on my PC. However, on my linked phone and tablet, the sites are visible, WITH NO PASSWORD!! For anyone to see!!
I urge you not to use this addon - Rated 1 out of 5by someone, 2 years agomy bookmarks got deleted for some reason... I have not used my bookmarks for a long time. Now that i wanted to use them they are all gone. Thank you very much...
- Rated 1 out of 5by DominicC, 2 years agoBACKUP YOUR BOOKMARKS! I installed this, moved bookmarks into the private bookmarks area, then locked it. Came back the next day and unlocked it only to find all the private bookmarks EMPTY!
I had a backup, but if I hadn't all my private bookmarks would have been lost!
I use Firefox sync, and I read the description before installing and using it too.
The github issue tracker is full of issues and bugs. My advice, avoid, look elsewhere. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16303122, 2 years ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Panical, 2 years agoWas amazing but password no longer works! Edit: Lost my password AGAIN ~2 weeks later with my new bookmarks this is stupid! For some reason this time it seems to be because my previous password was under 8 characters, now it's asking for over 8 for some reason. Please fix this atrocity. It also asks for a number now. It's local you morons
- Rated 1 out of 5by katey1801, 2 years agoI have either forgotten my password or it is no longer working. Needs to add some kind of password recovery system. Why not let it have email as a means of recovery?

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13502344, 3 years agoDoes not work! Puts the bookmarks outside the private folder! Stupid min. password length (this is local, so put user in charge of how many chars their password is.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Poppy, 3 years agoThe issue is that there's often a lag between opening Firefox and the extension loading, so for a few moments the private folder (and sometimes its content) is visible in Firefox's bookmarks sidebar, rendering the extension practically useless.
