Saving/Sharing marks using generated URLs is a really great idea.
This addon is just one step away from being PERFECT.
And that step is:

Good addon but once you clear your browser cache all your highlights are gone.
Needs Undo/Redo Function Rated 3 out of 5 stars
You have to be careful when using this because if you highlight a whole line on the page and if your mouse just goes a little bit to far to the right, it will highlight everything below it.
The only way to get rid of that is to hit, "Clear All" ...not fun when you've already made a bunch of highlights.
Still doesn't work (updated) Rated 4 out of 5 stars
it allows only one mark operation then freezes
claimed 10.x compatibility is false -- it's /install/ compat. ONLY
WinXP, Foxes from Aurora 9 to current Beta 11.
Didn't remeber exact urls but tested quickly on a some simple pages like mozdev or local files.
The issue was the same like before when I'd installed last previous version with compat checks disabled: after a first try to mark, regardless of via toolbar button or context menu, ext "freezes" in a "mark" state and I can't nor turn it off via toolbar nor make a next marks -- everything like a one review below (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/web-marker/reviews/328927/)
More information needed
Thanks for the review. I tested the addons on Mozilla Firefox 10.0.2 on Ubuntu 11.10. Could you share more information about the issue you faced? Details like: url you were on and Firefox/OS version would be of help.
Web Marker Doesn't Work on my Mac Rated 1 out of 5 stars
The Web Marker add-on does not perform as advertised on my Mac running Snow Leopard. It highlights only ONE item of text on each page. Once I've used it the first time, I cannot go to another text item on the same web page and highlight that too.
Moreover, I cannot turn off Web Marker, so that the first item on a web page that I want to select always gets highlighted. I cannot simply select text (the first time) without highlighting it too.
I could not determine how to uninstall Web Marker.
FF3 when? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I read a lot of text HTML pages, so I really liked that I could mark and save the file and it would retain the highlights. I tried another (wiredmarker?) but doesn't work the same as this one. I'm really looking forward to the FF3 availability of this addon and hope it happens soon!!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7).
Please update for FF3! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I'll second the previous review. I hope this gets updated for FF3. I really liked this add-on, and I miss it!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7).

Do I ever miss this add on. It's gone to me now that I upgraded to FF 3.0. I hope it's upgraded soon. Otherwise, I might have to see a therapist. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.1-signed).
Fantastic Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a fantastic add-on. I can find nothing else like it. I can just go down a page, mark what I want to keep, then paste all the marks in one go in Word where I can organize them - and then save or bookmark the link to find back my marks as well.
It would be nice but not essential to be able to add a comment too (see how Google Notebook does it).
no good Not yet rated
It doesn't save what I've marked. What's the point of a book marker that is gone every time I close a book. If I just needed to differetiate different sections of text, I could have just done that in my head. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.1-signed).
Colors Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Hi, I love this add-on and would love to see different color options for high-lighting as green hurts my eyes. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.1-signed).
Nothin' else like it Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Nothing else does what this does, good job! I have a feature request: I'd like to see an option to keep marked blocks across browser restart. TIAThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.1-signed).
Very useful extension Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Thanks for the nice extension! If have a small request for when you have a few cycles. Please add an option to the context menu to create a book mark for the link to the selected text. This is currently available through the toolbar only - but a lot of people don't enable the entire toolbar.
It may in fact be nice to make available all the options in the context menu (but user selectable in the configuration).
