I finally found a new app that functions just like this one except the multiple colored pens part. Here it is:
Guys, the last known update for this extension is 5 year old (2012).
There is no know replacement, even on other browsers.
Also, this extension has just 700 users, and I fear that's not enough to attract new developers to fill the gap.
With FF57 and the new API just around the corner, we should start to deal with the fact that this software is gone and it's not coming back.
Thanks for the ride, RIP!
This tool is incredibly helpful for my job, but with the new 56.0 Firefox update Vocabulary Highlighter causes the browser to crash!! I have to disable it now to be able to use the browser... This happens across multiple computers here at the office... Please fix this bug ASAP!!! Will update my rating once it is fixed.
This app is EXTREMLY USEFULL , but unfortunately that no got update and no work so fine on firefox 52.
ERROR: Script: chrome://vocabhighlighter/content/findworker.js:142
Please , update
Hi there. Nice add-on, is it possible to create same add-on for google chrome? Maybe for a some kind of reward? ;-)
The customized pen function not working, need a fix, program loop indefinitely when I try to add a customized pen. It will be great if it can highlight in different colors.
That will be perfect if the empty Note area is replaced with word definition (that is, look up the word from a dictionary).
It works sometimes and you need to refresh the page to make it work also different colors would be nice too.
This application is corrupt and should be removed.
A firefox/mozilla bug has been raised against it:
Bug 1234037 - Vocabulary Highlighter extension creates many redundant instances of mozStorage
For further info see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1234037 , including the screenshot.
I need to change keywords daily. For some reason Vocabulary Highlighter insistently highlights erased items even from empty dictionary. Sometimes it does not highlight active words. Uninstalled.
Moved to Phrase Highlighter, although it renounces to work with frames.
Rất hay và có triển vọng! Cám ơn. Anh có còn phát triển tiện ích này nữa không?
Great and promising! Thanks. Do you still support this add-on?
Good addon! But it will be greater if provides hotkey functions. Clicking right button, click add, click ok, it cost three actions, while It will be more convenient if three actions can be changed by one hotkey.
I would really need the functionality of this addon, and it worked well for the most part, but sometimes it didn't highlight the word list when loading a page, even after reloading and turning the addon on and off.
Also my Firefox started to crash randomly several times a day after installing this addon, so I had to uninstall it.
Everything works fine except for reports. Every time I want to have a look at a report, it opens in a new tab but there are only empty columns. I'd like to have a list of my highlighted vocabulary so that I could print it out or use it to make flashcards online. It's much less useful to me if I can't do that.
One of a kind! Very useful! To the developer, please keep this addon alive!
In FF33 it stopped working altogether
This would be a great program if only it would stop crashing every version of Firefox that now comes out. It also still has issues with not being able to remove highlighted words once they've been totally removed from the program. I love the concept of this program but sadly it really no longer works. I'm hoping the creator finally repairs it.
Great done and really useful
Can you please make this available for Android version of Mozilla Firefox?
It's my favorite add-on and also the backbone of my learning. It is very-2 useful which I have been exploiting in my learning.
Everything goes well only the remove words not functional. The words will always show highlighter even after it has been successfully removed. Could you please fix it,as the database growing larger, some unused words need removed. Thank you for your great work.
I used to love this, it really transformed the way I worked, but as others have said there's a stability issue at the moment. Until the author gets it fixed I would recommend Phrase Highlighter which has similar functionality and doesn't break FF as often.
Exactly what I need, but, like others have mentioned, it keeps crashing Firefox.
The functionality is excellent, except when it locks up or crashes Firefox. About 10% or fewer of the crashes have a window displayed that the script within Vocabulary Highlighter is unresponsive, and I can stop it. Most of the time, Firefox just crashes. Removing this add-on puts a stop to the crashes.
A great extension but sadly it's an one time use addon. By this I mean that when you're adding words to be highlighted you should add them when you first install this. After that, any other changes you make won't be recorded. I cleared up my list of words and the initial words that were in the list were still highlighted. I tried adding some new words but nothing.
