Why was Viral Threat Level created?
Initially this addon was simply a way of learning how to develop addons for Mozilla, and although that is still true, I think that it is becoming more and more useful with each release.
I think that if used correctly, it allows users to learn how to protect themselves, by providing information that can be difficult to find, while also adding pretty flashy lights to your status bar (OK, maybe not pretty, but informative).
What's next for Viral Threat Level
First, I have to apologise for the status not updating over the last few months, I have been unable to access the internet, and the domain that handles my DNS had expired and it took me a while to re-obtain it. I am now back in control, and hopefully this will not be happening again any time soon.
I am planning to implement a news feature, but in order to do that I need people with some knowledge of security and/or malware, to post news articles on a regular basis. News would be posted through a contributors area on the website, and would be placed on the site, in an RSS feed, and in VTL for users that have the news option enabled.
There will of course be updates before then, but as yet I don’t know the details of what they will include.
I am open to suggestions if you have any ideas.
