Needs some tweaks Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A very useful extension, but the "View This Page in Firefox" entry doesn't work for me, I suggest to look at this post: Add Open In Firefox Option In Your Internet Explorer Context Menu Manually! | Welcome To Amar Jain's Blog! (http://bit.ly/19PpxPs) It solved. Otherwise the "Open Link Target in Firefox" entry worked flawlessly.

Great!It's a really useful option to have.
Thanks.

Fix for IE 9 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is a good add on that allow quick switch from the Internet explorer to firefox . However, the author does not have updated it for IE 9. Here is how we can do a fix manually.

Thanks Andrew for sharing the solution.
In Windows 7, search for the file firefoxviewpage.html which is stored in a folder something like below :
C:\Users\Kevin\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ba9w9cyr.default\extensions\{5D558C43-550F-4b12-84AB-0D8ABDA9F975}\ ,
where Kevin is my user profile name.

Edit the html file using a Editor, say Frontpage.
Switch to the HTML tab, replace the complete source by followings and saved. Restart IE9 and you are fixed.

<HTML>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" defer>

function runFirefox(location) {
var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
try {
ws.Run("firefox \"" + location + "\"");
} catch (fireerr) {
try {
ws.Run("mozilla \"" + location + "\"");
} catch (err) {
}
}

}

var oWindow = window.external.menuArguments.top;
if (oWindow != null) {
runFirefox(oWindow.document.URL);
// runFirefox(oWindow.location);
}
</SCRIPT>
</HTML>

ViewInFirefox upgrade needed ASAP for Firefox 6 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

ViewInFirefox (and its predecessor) is an excellent and ESSENTIAL add-on that I've been using for years!

But it still doesn't install for Firefox 6 -- please, please, please get it working again for this new Firefox and since Mozilla intends to come out with more frequent Firefox version changes let's hope that ViewInFirefox gets adjusted quickly each time.

In the meantime, how can one bypass the Firefox version compatibility check and force the add-on installation each new to see if it works?

Please update for IE9, (but manual fix works ok) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For IE9 use: I can verify that the fix offered below by user "Andrew" works well. Thank you.
This is a great extension that I used a lot in IE8. (With this manual fix I can finally use it in IE9 until the author officially updates this Add-on for Internet Explorer 9 compatibility, (hopefully!).)
[For IE9 fix, see comment "IE9 Javascript permission denied fix" below by "Andrew".]

Simple yet invaluable, but.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So useful when you sometimes have to use IE, to be able to open links and pages easily in Firefox from there. Unfortunately not yet compatible with Firefox 4 b7. (Just tweaking the version number in the .rdf file doesn't seem to do the trick: this allows it to be enabled, but it still doesn't work) Looking forward to having it back with b7 !

always open page in Firefox Rated 4 out of 5 stars

hello !

The extension has some limitations when the link contains a java script call . As a workaround it will be great if we can have a feature that will allow to open a specific page/domain to always open in Firefox

Thank you

FirefoxView needs much better advertising!

I took almost 30 minutes tracking it down - but it was well worth the search.

I use CD/DVD software disks from magazines and dislike downloading using IE - now I can get back full functionality of Firefox 3.

Many thanks to the author.

P.S. Alex, maybe you should (reciprocally) advertise on the page for "IE View"?

Thank you! I have to make IE believe it's the big cheese so I have it as default and I hate it! Thank you so much! No more copying and pasting URLS!

Please look into updating this extension on AMO. Version 1.0 exists on developer's website at [http://www.iosart.com/firefox/firefoxview/] and it has Firefox 3 compatibility.
