The effort to keep up with YT is highly appreciated in this part of the globe. You guys are doing a great great job. More power to your generous souls!
Thank you so much for making the effort to keep up with the changes to YouTube. I know it's a pain. AND Thank you for creating this extension. It's GREAT!
I like this add-on. I use it all the time. :)
i would its probably the greatest add on for firefox you can get
According to the developer's website, YouTube yet again changed the way their websites handle video. This new change - on the 17th August - has met with yet another update -- 4.6.2 from VideoDownloadHelper. However at the time of writing, this version is not available from the Firefox addons page.
Hopefully 4.6.2 should be up here soon.
YouTube are being very annoying lately.
As mentioned in the developer update, you can install 4.6.2 from http://www.downloadhelper.net/install-beta.php?version=4.6.2
This add-on *seriously* kicks a load of a55. Never crashes. Never slows down connection. Very easy to use. Need I say does its job perfectly. Download & start downloading.
This is a very helpful tool and works very well. Downloading videos are a breeze and will only take a few steps: a click or two away from copying you favorite videos. Two thumbs up for this application.
Easy to use. Best piece of software I have used in a long time.
I've seen that many people have had problems with the current version that is out now.
Problem being, that HQ18 option will not show if watching a you tube video.
Then i saw the developer linked us to the BETA 4.61. I downloaded it and it worked for the 1st two days, now from this afternoon on (Aug17-Mon) the HQ18 option is now gone again.
Could you guys fix this problem again?

As allready stated, quoting:
"Easy to use. Becoming a bit bloated though.
Also when disabling "Smart Naming" in the Options, the "Smart Naming" menu still appears on the right-click menu."
This issue has been fixed in 4.6.1
the beta version 4.6.1 resolve problem cannot download youtube video due to changes made by youtube. get the 4.6.1
Es un complemento realmente muy interesante lo recomiendo 100 % vale la pena probarlo y darle una oportunidad.
DownloadHelper is great... one of my best FF addons.
If you guys could integrate it with one of the download accelerators like DownThemAll! it would be too good...
thank you all.
We would love to have the integration with DownThemAll, but you should ask this to DTA developers. We tried several times to contact them but they did not reply.
I am a disabled veteran and this is the best thing going. I have very limited finances and they let me use it free. Thanks guys and/or gals it is a God send
Have used and loved this for about a year. Sadly, even 4.6.1 isn't working with FF 3.0.13 on Mac. What did Youtube do, and why, does anyone know?
This 4.6.1 version should work with any Firefox 2.0 to 3.5.2 releases. If you have problems on Firefox 3.0.13, please contact support (http://www.downloadhelper.net/support.php) with details on what exactly is not working.
One of the most useful add-ons at all!
"If the youtube videos take a long time to load, this is another problem"
Sorry mig but that can't be! I wrote it in my posting... if I disable the addon (and only this and no other addon) than all actions on youtube runs fine. And that is still my problem with downloadhelper since the versions after march or april in this year.
The Youtube HQ problem that occured on the 13th was fixed by 4.6.1 on the 14th. Another youtube change caused a similar issue on the 17th. Version 4.6.2 submitted on the 18th solves the problem.
If the youtube videos take a long time to load, this is another problem (described at http://bugzilla.downloadhelper.net/show_bug.cgi?id=5) and is due to a bug in your firewall.
This is what makes the add-on great: the folks who make it are always quick to update the add-on whenever something major like Youtube changes something that breaks functionality. Version 4.6.1 is working great!
If you've updated to 4.6 and found youtube videos aren't coming up anymore then goto http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/3006#version-4.5 and download the previous version (4.5)
Given the changes at YouTube that has caused the problem since yesterday, there is no chance DownloadHelper 4.5 will work much better.
Instead, you can wait for version 4.6.1 (just submitted to addons.mozilla.org) or install it directly from http://www.downloadhelper.net/install-beta.php?version=4.6.1
the download from youtube's link doesn't work anymore also. I tried the new profile trick and older version ,nothing works. There's other way to get a video from youtube but this addon was the only one to autoname the file and to allow batch download. I guess it's back to youtube continously eating most of the ram now .
I have loved Video DownloadHelper since it was first introduced. As of today it stopped working. Can't download or even see mp4 vids when logged into YouTube. Can't figure out how to get an older version of this app either. Have now moved to Safari and an online converter mixed with VideoZilla which takes longer but at least works. I am ready to scrub Firefox as my default browser over this.
Dear Mig.
The Ver. 4.6.1 is working .
Thanks a lot... ^ ^
Really nice add-on which works just fine with my Archos. :)
No mp4 files can be downloaded anymore from Youtube after updating to the latest version! Previously it worked perfectly, but now the only option is Vdeo.flv, and the only name given by default is video flv. It was better when the name of the video was given. I have a Mac.
Same problem as FiNa LaNa, it seems.
