I find the program useful on most sites. I don't bother converting files anymore; Winamp can handle pretty well any file I am interested in and am quite happy with Video DownloadHelper.

when i view a video at you tube the coloured balls stay gray

Works for very popular sites like YouTube. I couldn't use it to download a rare Beatles footage flash video from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8311555.stm That was the very first video I wanted to download. :( Now I'll have to find out where else it won't work. It's good, but there's no universal solution available yet.

Hi... this addon I simply LOVE.. Hard to imagine living without it now :)

but... I've found one problem.. I've tried to download this video:

and I can't.. It has this character in the name= '|' (ctrl+alt+w) and it doesn't allow me now to rename it.. it just says it can not download it.. thank you

Please make this compatible with the 3.6 Alpha (and not the pre alone)! I only switched back from Minefield in order to get this add-on!

I found this add-on performance regretfully disappointing upon me, furthermore apparently experiencing an unstable functionality on slow connections.

I would recommend the Flashgot extension with a download manager like the Firefox built-in or Free Download Manager, and install as a backup the Real Player application which now comes with a browser plug-in that most of the times automatically offers to download the video playing on the webpage through its own download manager and has a video converter too, otherwise accessible via Start menu on Windows.

I use to download streaming videos and I would get 95 % or more of them.
It detects HQ in youtube and can keep original names ...
It is excelent, I rate it at 9,5.

i love this program too but i just upgraded to firefox 3.6 beta 1 and it says incompatible even though it says it supports it

I've been using this add-on for some time, and recommending it to friends. My primary use for it is in collecting instructional videos in a technique that is well-represented on Youtube, and I love my collection of videos! The tool is easy to use (and not fazed even by having you close Firefox before your download is complete. The only thing that still puzzles me is the (sometimes large!) number of choices presented when I download something. I understand that these refer to different codecs, but I've never seen a user-guide to understand the difference between them, or to help me make "the best" selection for my purposes (learning).
