  • An amazing combination of the most useful downloading programs. I remember going to source, finding the name, opening the program, saving page.

  • This is one of the best addons that you can have for Firefox. I use it all the time and it never stops being useful.

  • This is the best app I've found for ripping Flash content. Never get rid of this add-on. Definitely a must have! Thanks!

  • Works like they said it would. I use this almost every day. Big thanks to the developers!

  • I only use it to download Flash videos on various sites and so far it works well. The only problem I had is; sometimes Youtube gets stuck on one page because of this extension. Disabled it and all is normal again. I wish it had an On/Off button so you could turn this extension off when not needed.

  • I don't understand all of the good reviews. It will download a video for you, but you must pay if you want to convert it. Oh well, it was a nice idea anyway.

  • Don't waste your time. It doesn't work! They just shamelessly use Firefox to try to sell a video converter that perhaps will make it work, or may it won't. You will have to pay them $28 to find out. Why this kind of trickery is allowed by Mozilla?

The developer replied: it works for more than 5 million users. Assuming this number is real, one, it's not so impressive considering the number Firefox users worldwide and the high demand for this type of an application, and two, it depends on how you define "works." Yes, you can download a video, after some trying anyway, but most of them out there are flash, and have to be converted to be of any use in most cases. And besides, mig, this isn't my main problem with this addon. It is the misleading way in which is described, the promises of what it will do, which include an ability to convert on the fly. Only later you discover that for that you have to install a separate program because it is said conversion is inappropriate for an addon. That right off should have been a red flag for me. Inappropriate? Why not? And then in the License Agreement it goes on and on how they are determined to keep it free and not allow anyone to take it and start charging for it. And only later, after wasting hours, you realize the conversion program is useless unless you pay up $28 for registration. So what is it if not trickery?

    Developer response

DownloadHelper works for more than 5 million users. It does the job to download web videos and it does so for free. The converter is a separate program that you don't have to use (it's not enabled by default). The shareware aspect of the converter covers for the free stuff.

  • it works a treat

  • At least have the decency to say it's SHAREWARE. .

  • This is the best add-on, and the ENTIRE reason I use Firefox. Not just can you get videos from YouTube, but you can get embedded mp3s off of different sites, like Lala and Grooveshark and Rhapsody. Seriously. Download it.

  • This really is an excellent add on, it does exactly what it says. I use it all the time and it has downloaded everything I have wanted it to. Go on download it, you won't be disappointed.

  • Would be great if it worked. On my system (Ubuntu, FF3.0.14) it didn't work. Always said, "Starting up" and never downloaded anything.

  • best plugin for firefox! MUST HAVE

  • If something cannot be downloaded, you get a note that pops up telling you so. if you are down loading a file with 800 parts the this thing is having trouble with you get 800 notes, which can take hours to finish popping up. you can restart the computer, unplug the computer, shoot the computer, nothing stops this thing from popping up every single notice, you cannot stop it.
I will write about some other cliches later, I am too annoyed now. Thank heaven for the other download tools, really.

    Developer response

When DownloadHelper cannot download a video, this is because it does not detect it. By nature of the product, it just does nothing and certainly not say 'i cannot see this'.

People who complained about this in the past were in fact mistakenly rating another download tool.

  • Top Add-On, kanns mir nicht mehr wegdenken!
