It seems to be taking some people a while to clue in that the recent problems with downloading YouTube videos has NOTHING TO DO with this, or any other, add-on and EVERYTHING to do with changes made by YouTube.

I want reiterate my support for VDH...out of all the download helpers available it is the most versatile and has the most features. I have never had any problems with it (OS 10.5.8).

Faulty Youtube-Download?

If Youtube changes its own functionality, please, give the addon developer some time to adapt to Youtube's new behaviour. It's not the addon's fault at all.

So PLEASE don't spam around with single stars and spoil the addon's ratings. Even if it's not working *now* the developer is already busy fixing it.
Kindly wait for a proper update and continue enjoying DownloadHelper.

Also 5-star rating here to compensate for ignorant morons 1-starring this brilliant add-on for what an external website has done, NOT the add-on.

Personally I cannot envision browsing the web without this add-on. I NEVER watch a video in Youtube, FlashBlock+VDH, save to disk. I have saved tons of bandwidth by not having to reload the damn video in Firefox if the browser crashes, accidentally close the tab, etc.

Don't cache your videos watching them in-browser, use this add-on and watch in VLC or whatever. You will not go back once you start!

the program, rel 4.7.4, no longer displays the prefixes of the various video formats ... a disgrace! how do you choose the highest video quality?

I've enjoyed this program for years, however it is no longer working. This certainly could be a function of youtube changing something, so I'm not assigning blame to the program, just mentioning that it will no longer convert to mp4 ( the option has disappeared) or for that matter download flv to my Mac. I get a message saying "Conversion requires an external application that appears to be missing from your system" Any suggestions?

It doesn't download anything, and just say "it works", with 0Mb video file at the end, pfff. Thanx.

the problem is YOUTUBE not your program..
it works very well..
they seem to be fixing their formats to be viewable only..

I really like this add-on, but sometimes when I try downloading a video from YouTube the file will be empty and there's never a download. It's really frustrating. :(
Other than that, I really like it. It would be nice if that one issue could be fixed, though. :-/

is good for what it does,..

I can no longer get MP4 videos from YT.

It's ridiculous to put quantifiers in your FAQ's when you submit a program that simply doesn't work for many users. How about a disclaimer in the first page Firefox users see when searching for something that will convert video files as they're downloaded via websites?

Just my thought.

As others have already mentioned, unable to d/l YouTube videos since July 21.

Downloadhelper worked fine until late last night (July 21, 2010) and now it won't download anything on YouTube. Please say a fix is being worked on. ( It wouldn't let me leave a zero star rating.)
