works, but with issues (other than youtube complications)

First problem : the downloading capability often "disappears" during the middle of a video play - forcing you to immediately start the process when viewing a video.
Second problem :the text "DownloadHelper" takes up WAY too much space in the address bar - it serves no purpose - the icon itself is all that is needed.
Third problem : sometimes multiple videos are available when clicking the icon - need something like resolution displayed so user can know which is actually desired to be downloaded.

Best video downloader.

Last upgrade broke it on me.

Great app -- down-rating in hopes of being spotted by a developer.

In the past, the pull down menu on the navigation bar icon was always available whether DH recognized media in the tab or now. Now, there is no pull down menu, only a right-click menu, and, as far as I'm able to tell, there's no way to force a download if DH doesn't recognize media in-tab. In cases where a tab downloads or reloads too quickly, or cases where I switch between tabs too quickly, for instance, DH often doesn't recognize media in-tab often despite recognizing the same media when a tab had foregrounded earlier.

Is this caused by some adjustment I've made to DH preferences, or is this a result of recent updates?

They removed the Video >> MP3 conversion from the "non-registered" version, which I always used. Sorry, I'll just use your product to download then.

It could be true that it is the fault of youtube and not the program. Anyway a particular experience I had with for example downloading ABC one life to live episodes is first of all one must NOT choose the versions with the 'you tube' logo and on most all i saw one does have another choice for the .flv file but possibly of a higher resolution,anyway perhaps longer file, both otherwise of the same content such as logo of a square open on the right side etc. AND also even with these Could NOT download while watching the clip even if it is paused but had to get out of that window by back etc. or also can just shut down the Firefox browser(which i used,haven't tried anything with IE). Even so this program has the fault that does NOT show up under control panel add/remove software so one cannot uninstall and don't even know how much memory disk space etc. nor even the name or version of the program.

This is one of the best firefox add-ons that I have ever used ! Stable, bug free ... one of the best tools for downloading and converting videos around !!!!

NOW HERE'S THE SCAM they pull when they go to there support site. You fill out all the info etc. and then they come up with
..it says you are about to receive live support from....' but require a 4 digit code will be sent to your email. And says enter it here so ofcourse there is no way to to do that without leaving that site and then after you get the number EVERYTHING IS GONE BEFORE AND HAVE TO START OVER!! - you cannot do back and get into it again and then they don't even have the decency to put something in your email so you can come back to the same place!! So ofcourse the only possible way is to start over again and hope the jerks will take that same number you got before BUT NO THAT number DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!! WHAT AN IRRITATING SCAM SO DON'T EVER THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET HELP FROM THESE GUYS.

since about july 26 download helper will not work in youtube when bring up a video to watch and download . Before about july 20 or so it worked . Now i remember
there was an upgrade or something that made it NOT work and now i see there is NO entry in control panel in winxp as far as installed programs which
SHOULD have been there so now I can't uninstall the original with those upgrades. Why do these jerks make an upgrade that is much worse than the prior
one since it won't work on youtube though it did work on another place i tried. NOw I don't even remember exactly which one of the download helper's i originally
downloaded as there are many different types and versions of download helper in the add-ons. and i can't find which one as the jerks at firefox did not put any entry into
control panel add/remove software!! noW if they ever fix it ONE CANNOT UNINSTALL THE PREVIOUS VERSION SO THERE YOU GO WITH WASTED
DISK SPACE, and then get duplicate wrong entries in registry etc.If they ever do fix that problem THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY ANYONE CAN TELL WHAT VERSION THEY DOWNLOADED
OR EVEN THE NAME OF IT . It should be outlawed to put in any crap that don't put entry in add/remove software so one cannot uninstall it. AND WHO MAKES AN
UPDATE that makes functions of the previous one NOT WORK ANYMORE!!

4.8 is working good for me. I tried in on a few random YouTube vidoeos to test it out and full HD mp4 downloads perfectly. Thanks for the update.

We immediately worked at finding a solution and adapt to the new system. We are now happy to release this 4.8 version, but this implied changes in the way DownloadHelper works, that you must be aware of.

I use 4.8 but can't even get usable FLV files. They all have 000 TIME
I can get even mp4 with "YouTube Download" but nothing with DownloadHelper for 5 days -

Tut tut, devs - browser hijacking, where you intercept a URL request and instead point the user's browser to another page, is a criminal offense here in the UK. Breach of the RIPA. A firefox plugin shouldn't intercept my browsing to sell me 'system optimisation' junk software, so I'll be uninstalling yours now and moving elsewhere.

as long as you are doing your best with what you have, you are still the best for my needs. there is nothing more you can do.

thank you for making one of the most efficient, effective, and intuitive means to download video.

Download Helper is one of the best tools to help me to download such as You tube,Download Pregames on the webs that what i want. It is faster than before and great tool to use For my opinion I give four stars

YouTube have taken steps to STOP people downloading. They do this every now and then, the most successful methods seem to work and make a lot of previous downloading methods redundant.

Now with the Internet being the Internet.........

"The Downloading Communities" then start working on fixes and patches and upgrades and redesigns and changing of code, etc,etc...... then normally "usually" within a week "The Downloading Communities" succeed.

Then YouTube starts and rethinks again of methods to STOP people downloading.

On a personal note I think YouTube want the 1 month "Stopped" record.
