  • Download Helper, I love you!! Over 100 videos downloaded from YouTube!

True, YouTube is fighting us, and there was a period where I couldn't get videos, but now I can again! I have faith that the people behind this add-on are working hard to support our pirac- er, enthusiasm.

    Thank you!

  • ...but now I'm running into more and more sites where I can't grab the video. Many of the pr0n variety, but a lot of other news/commercial/social network sites too. It's to the point where if it actually can get the video then I'm really surprised.

It's obvious that pr0n and other content providers are coding their video delivery process to purposely foil software like this.

I have a multitude of these plugins installed and more and more they are all stumped unfortunately, so VDH is not entirely to blame, but they and other plugin developers just need to really step up and start getting around the new delivery methods to we can grab the videos against their wishes.

  • This is a good Free down-loader if you don't mind the watermark. Converter works good to.Video converter can be downloaded at their support page. I don't like the watermark so I have found another alternative.

  • I don't think I've found a site that this hasn't worked with yet. Great job guys!

  • Excelente¡¡

  • Bis auf ein paar kleinere Probleme mit Viedeos in komischen Formaten bin ich mit dem Video DownloadHelper immer gut zurechtgekommen.

  • Works very well and is easy to use. Thank you .

  • How fascinating to be prompted after 100 highly successful downloads with DownloadHelper to add a review. This is one of the add-ons that I never fail to recommend to others when I am presenting. It's one of the prime reasons for pointing others to Firefox as a browser of choice. It just works.

  • So today I completed my 200 downloads. It is nice to use, quicker add on, helped me downloading my fav videos from You Tube and so many other web sites.
This review is a token of thanks to Video Download Helper for helping me.
After 200 downloads, I am still using it and looking forward for 200 more!
    Lovin it!!
    Rai.

  • Thumbs down on this add-on - it has problems that make it a waste of time. The problem pertains to a loss of quality: it does not work optimally for Youtube videos though it will work for other websites. VDH does not work out of the box for Youtube and good luck trying to set it up for Youtube because luck is what you'll need to get it to run right - if you get it to run right. Sure, there are plenty of Youtube tutorials that cover this add-on but like so many tuts out there many of them are bad or don't cover important things like settings - you'll spend an eternity trying to hunt down a comprehensive tutorial. Specifically the main problem is is that there is a degradation problem in that when you use VDH to copy a really nice, crystal clear Youtube video to your hard drive parts of that video will come out grainy or watery while other parts of it are fine - and that type of inconsistency is something you can not live with when you're a serious downloader who's building a video library. I use VDH for everything but Youtube but for Youtube VDH is useless - I am forced to use another free video downloader to get the job done. Here's one other problem with VDH: the developer failed to make a good, comprehensive video tutorial that covers all you need to know. All any one needs is one, good video tutorial. Just one. Not five tuts, not ten tuts, just ONE good video tutorial covering all the details, all you'll ever need to know in one, detailed video tutorial. But no, instead the developer of VDH has a web page where he lists hundreds of tutorial videos for the user to sift through which could take the user hours, days or weeks to find the video with the correct information they need - if they find the video tutorial they need and that's a big IF cause as many of you know you can spend a lifetime searching the Internet for critical information. I donate to people who provide an invaluable product. Wikipedia is one that I donated to every so often because it's a great resource that I use and appreciate. But because of the blatant problems mentioned I won't donate to VDH until the problems are fixed, if they get fixed. Suffice to say that I cannot recommend VDH to anyone who likes to save Youtube videos to their hard drive. Lastly, some might say that if it works well for websites other than Youtube then I should have given it 3 stars. I can't give it 3 stars because 1) it should work well with Youtube but it does not, and 2) the Youtube problem as it pertains to VDH has been around for a long time.
