Yes, PLEASE update for FF 3.6! I miss my vertical tabs and the privacy they provide.

Update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Yeah FrnchFrgg please update this to 3.6. It's a great addon!

I also think it has a problem when used with Personas. All tabs are being brighted(that a word?). When selecting the default persona the tab colours are ok. That and the update would be cool. Right now I got 32 tabs open. I'm a web developer :)

Thanks!

"Currently, vertical scrolling of the bar (when you have more than 25-30 tabs open) is not working with TabMixPlus because TMP assumes the tab bar is horizontal (it works perfectly in Firefox without TMP)"

==> so it is not compatible with tbm...

Great work but background color Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon is great stuff!
There is a style issue that it does not follow theme´s background color.
Do you have any plans to fix that?
Added it to my personal collection.
Thanks!

works great - but sadly its background will stay white, even with darker themes like nasa nightlaunch.

A good netbook addition to maximize vertical space.

I like this extension a lot. But there seems to be an alignment problem with the scroll-bar and the tab-bar when the tab-bar is placed on the right.

There is a small, visible gap between them thats quite annoying.

It's Close... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It was a sad day when Vertical Tabbar became incompatible with newer versions of FF. VertTabbar is a great replacement. A vertical tabbar is the only way to browse on a wide screen display.

I initially was having issues where the vertical tab bar was would not resize beyond the normal horizontal width with TabMixPlus enabled. Even though the developer's notes say try not to change TMP settings that will conflict, the default TMP settings were conflicting. After some extensive testing it turns out the TMP setting that would not allow resizing of the bar is: Display > Tab Bar > New Tab Button. This check box must be unchecked for VertTabBar to size correctly. I found no other issues with TMP settings, but I also set my tab size in TMP exactly the same as my with with VTB.

I did run into some problems with rendering of some themes, but I've settled on NASA Night Launch and the tabbar looks great.

My thanks to the developer for the work done.

Fantastic Extension. Exactly what i was looking for my wide screen monitor.

Great extension. On wide screen monitors this is the best use of screen real estate. It looks like a couple of major usability features are missing:

1. Resize by drag-n-drop. Shortcut key to auto-close and/or change position from left to top and vice versa.

2. It would be really nice if it worked as part of All-in-one Sidebar plugin.

Keep up the good work!

Nice addon, but perhaps an autohide feature could be added. Even with a wide screen monitor, I find it takes up too much room when displayed full time. thanks for the effort on this extension.

Outstanding even with current bugs... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

VertTabbar is a Great extension!!!

Sadly, development for the extension called Vertigo-( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1343 ) which was previously my favorite, has died and I've finally given up all hope of resurrection by the original developer who seems to have disappeared and no longer responds. That said, VertTabbar is an excellent replacement in the same vein; simple and efficient! Tree-type tab extensions and the like are flat useless, take up valuable screen real-estate as well as resources, leak, and... NONE OF THEM "EVER" WORKED RIGHT -(if at all!)- on several machines and multiple OS's I tried them on. Along comes ...(or should I say "I found") VertTabbar and hope is once again renewed for a simple replacement/augmentation to the standard horizontal Ff tab-bar!! Relative too the TMP extension, I don't have the same problem color-coding / highlighting the tab text etc. via TMP as another reviewer commented; works perfectly! I do however have a problem each time I change a tab related setting in TMP which causes VertTabbar to jump from the right side of the browser window too the left. I also have All-In-One_Sidebar installed and VertTabbar jumps/sticks to the right edge of it when this jump occurs, not the window boarder. The fix is to open VertTabbar's settings and click the left, then the right radial button to force VertTabbar back to the right side; where it stays unless and until I change a tab related setting again in TMP. When starting Ff, VertTabbar starts on the left of screen, then jumps to the right while loading btw: interesting oddity IMO. Vertigo was on the right each and ever time at start-up without fail for me.

The other issue I have is the inability to scroll or access the hidden tabs-(beyond 23 tabs in my case @ 1024x768 resolution on my main machine). My work-around is the extension called SwiftTabs-( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/380 ), ...but still it's a PIA time-wise having to go through 10-15 tabs individually before locating the one I want, then back again... etc. etc. etc. . Julien, maybe you could look at the source code for Vertigo and come up with some ideas to resolve these issues. Vertigo did function very well with TMP with exception to the auto-hide feature; it worked...sometimes, but would reset to the default width rather than maintain the width I had chosen). I'd give you 5 stars, but until these issues are resolved I must be honest and fair at the same time. I'll continue using VertTabbar because there's no competition for the simplicity it offers. I hope these issues get fixed asap, then, 5 stars it will be! If you request Julien, I'll email my Ff Info listing of extensions, themes, and plug-ins to help you resolve things. Thanks for your time and effort on this one Julien! OUTSTANDING!!! Keep at it please and don't let this one die!

BigThunder1... ;)

Great add-on, one request Rated 4 out of 5 stars

VertTabbar is great, very usable. It works exacftly as you'd expect. Brilliant.

One suggestion: add an option to make the bar appear constantly even there's only one tab, I don't like the way my screen shifts when I open up the first tab.

Great work, nonetheless, I'll continue to use and enjoy it :)

The feature you want is already in Firefox, it is in the \"tab\" section of the Firefox options dialog (\"Always show the tab bar\" or similar)\r\n\r\nCheers,

Noble Concept but Still Flawed Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I installed this because I found the concept a worthy one and felt that it would be quite nice to have. However, I was quickly and sorely disappointed with a with GUI glitches that I cannot deal with. So until the day they are fixed, I am uninstalling this and will come back to try again when they are fixed. The primary source of disappointment was the fact that when each new tab is loaded, it expands horizontally before going back to vertical stacking. In most cases it won't go back and remains in the expanded horizontal fashion which totally eats up screen realestate and its not until you click on a previous (older) tab that it resorts back to the stacked state. This is unacceptable and quite distracting. I applaud your effort and hope that you will eventually get the kinks out and make it more TMP friendly also, as well as more theme compatible (I use NNL) but until then I have to uninstall and wait for it. Good luck to you.

Possible (Minor) Incompatibility with Multiple Tab Handler Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't have Tab Mix Plus installed but am using Multiple Tab Handler (MTH) with the "rein" theme. I found the following issues:

I was able to move the vertical tab bar from the right to the left, but the option to change justification does not work. This may or may not be an incompatibility with MTH.

I noticed that in this state (tab bar on left, close button on left, favicon on right) the tab title runs slightly under the favicon so that a sliver of the letter is cut-off. This may or may not be a style incompatibility.

I also agree that even when the tab bar is on the left the close buttons should be at the right of the tab.

The rounded corners of the tabs appeared jagged (yet rounded) rather than smooth. This may or may not be a style incompatibility.

I think the tabs would look better overall if they were round on all corners rather than only the corner farthest from the center of the screen. (To me) the current appearance looks odd.

Regarding the "rein" style, VTb did pick up it's closing tab icons.

I was able to scroll with multiple (30+) tabs open.

I was able to perform one of MTH's main functions -- being able to select (and close) multiple tabs at once. MTH's context menu also worked as it should.

I appreciated the dynamic nature of changing the options, rather than having to restart.

I will second that it would be handy to be able to drag the size of the tab window, but accept the limitations to doing so that you've explained.

Lastly. as far as appearance is concerned, I think the tab window would look better with more of a buffer between the scroll bar and the side of the tabs closest to them. It looks "cramped" as is, but if the space were the same as the space above the topmost tab (and to the outside) the look would be cleaner.

Thanks for your efforts.

Heavy Tab User Begs for Right Click functionality Rated 4 out of 5 stars

once the off screen tabs are accessible via the pop up list.... please, I despise the tab tree garbage! Also if you can include an option for close button for focused tab only, that would be a huge help especially if it would work with tab mix plus which I believe conflicts with setting the pertinent setting to either a 0 or 2 in about:config when using any of the vertical tab bars....

thank you and a great extension I'd love to resume using along with TabMixPlus

but have close only focused tab AND right click functionality for off screen tab list

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6).

Hmm

The off screen tabs are accessible by the popup list, but the tab list from TabMixPlus doesn't let you close tabs, so it's not completely perfect. The problem is that I shouldn't mess with the internals of TabMixPlus from another add-on, so it's difficult to fix (the scrolling works perfectly without TMP, it's not a bug of VertTabbar). I'll try to contact TMP author.

The close tab button can be controlled by the about:config setting, or by extensions (which control this setting under the hood), or directly by Tab Mix Plus if it is installed (in the tab preferences, there is a dropdown list to select when the close button is shown)
