Thank you for making this! I just installed it; it appears to work, although I haven't noticed any performance improvement yet - but FF was very fast anyway. The icon-hiding does work perfectly for me; perhaps the other guy complaining had a conflict with another add-on.

Alternative Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on, but I do have one issue with it.
The name to long....
Which at one point lead me to use PlacesCleaner. However I found a nice neet tool to download called Speedfox by Crystalidea. This tool not only optimizes the places, but other sqlite(s) as well.

Good job, shoud be a default part of FF Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Good job! But this shouldn't even be an addon. I expect the FF devs to include this auto-optimization in the browser by default!!!

How to hide? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a terrific extension that makes for a significantly faster browser. The only problem I have: I cannot hide the Status Bar icon.

If, for instance, I check "Hide," with the icon set to show 40 starts after last cleaning, and with automatic cleaning to happen every 30 starts, the icon still appears in the Status Bar, though given these settings, it should never appear at all. I've tried many different combinations, and still, the icon won't disappear. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm using OS X 10.4.11 and Firefox 3.5.3.

Great add-on. Why don't you think of extend the optimization to the huge "urlclassifier3.sqlite" file ?

For some reason, this plugin makes my Live Bookmark RSS feeds not update.

I mean, I love the idea of this addon, but that seriously needs to be fixed for me to use it.

Really useful add-on! I was close to stop using Firefox beacause of its slowness. I wondered the reason was the high number of add-ons i've been using but it wasn't. Vaccum places reorganized the sqlite files improving my FFox speed a lot. Highly recommended!

No download button Rated 3 out of 5 stars

There's no download button, instead there's two links, one says "upgrade Firefox to use this add-on", the other "an older version might work."

I'm using Ff 3.5.3, what's going on?

This is great! I don't write reviews very often but this one really got my attention. My browser runs at-least 10 times faster! Highly recommended!!

Great Tool Rated 4 out of 5 stars

After installing this add on and giving it my first try, i am very satisfied with its performance!! I tried accessing LIVE webcams and the images does change fast as compared to last time where the image is quite still for sometime.

Thank You for providing such a good add on. good job !

Seems good - be useful to see what it's actually DONE though Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Seems good - but agree it would be useful to have a "Optimised database to x% of original size!" or some other RESULT output.

EVen better, something like "Your Firefox should now be X% faster" - or some other cool "What it's done" system like Disk Defrag tools use.

Also agree this should be built into FireFox!

Hi, thanks for the work with this Addon. It looks very interesting and hopefully it'll release some strain from my Firefox browsing.

I came here via http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/09/06/optimize-firefox-performance-via-defragmentation-add-on-applications/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13824

I've installed this. Would be nice if someone technically minded can add a review of what this is actually intended to do (that link above to MyDigitalLife is a good start).

Love the vacuum cleaner icon! Would be nice to be able to repeat the image on the main toolbar too.

Thanks again and please keep up the good work :)

Nice app, although it should show the before and after state of the .sqlite files.

Not sure if the last one went through, but great extension in that so far, it seems to do exactly what it said it would do: greatly improved FF performance. Also, don't have any issues with google reader.

Lastly, maybe start a group to manage people with issues, suggestions, improvements, etc.
