Excellent quick reply from developer Rated 5 out of 5 stars
All three of the issues I raised in my initial review have been dealt with in the rapid response from the developer. It turns out that it's simple to create groups of channels (eg sports, films) by right clicking in the Channel list, and easy to rename the channels so that they appear in the order you want (I just used an two digit prefix). You can even enlarge the text using the standard command Ctrl +. If only I'd read the extension description fully - doh!
Fantastic work, I hope that the UK audience can find this extension amongst the myriad of other extensions available for Firefox.
I don't know if it's possible to add different colour coding for genres other than movies? It would also be handy to be able to change the groups without having to have the left border open at all, although I'm aware it is possible to shrink it down?
I can request a Full Review in a few days time - which helps with visibility on this site - and good user reviews helps with that process. So thank you for taking the time.
Coloured genres are on the way: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2421497&start=15, as I personally mainly like to watch films they got a head start!
If you look at the bar that separates left from right (it's called a 'grippy') you should notice the odd graphic - it is small - hover carefully over this and you get the 'pointy finger'. Now click that graphic and the bar will snap back to the left, click again and the Channel List will snap open again. Not exactly what you ask for but you may find that more convenient than dragging the bar around.
Potentially great Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This could be really useful, at the moment I use online services for the TV guide but none of these is ideal.
To be worth me keeping this extension needs...
1. The ability to set up additional groups e.g. films, sport
2. The ability to re-order channels rather than having them appear alphabetically
I'd also appreciate the chance to resize the text/display, which is a little small for my aging eyes!
Many thanks for the good work though, I hope you can develop the extension further.
Thanks for your comments.
1. You can create additional Channel Groups from a right-click context menu on the Channel List.
2. Currently, the Channels can be ordered but only by setting your own Alias (found on that same context menu) - it will still sort alphabetically but according to the names you assign to the channels.
My eyes aren't too great either! Something that may help in general is to try Firefox's zoom feature: Ctrl-+ (Ctrl and plus), all the zoom options sit under the View menu (Alt-V-Z).
I hope this helps.
