I have been using Ubernote and this add-on for a while now, however, have never been able to get the email service to work (emailing notes to your account).
Is anyone else having this problem? Wondering if it could be something to do with the extension.
Please update Ubernote toolbar so it is compatible with FF5
A little bit confusing toolbar, but I guess it's doing what it should.
I've been using Ubernote ever since I got fed up with Google's equivalent notes service (which doesn't even exist anymore, I don't think), and I love it. It does what I need a notes service to do and it isn't bloated with tons of unnecessary junk that makes my old computer choke, unlike far too many other notes services out there.
This add-on is much like the service itself: it does exactly what I need it to do, and when I'm not using it, I forget all about it -- which is as it should be, IMO. It isn't bloated with unnecessary functions, and it doesn't worm its way into every conceivable menu, the way a lot of add-ons connected to external services seem to do. It doesn't gobble memory and it doesn't act like it's trying to do double-duty as advertising. It just sits quietly in its corner until it is needed, and then it does precisely what I need it to do without giving me any grief. I've never had a problem with it. It's funny: I never think of this as one of those 'WOW' add-ons, but when I needed to set up Firefox on a new computer, I found that installing it was just about the very first modification I wanted to make. Sometimes unassuming dependability is worth a lot.
the info is indeed stored on their server, which i see as a very positive thing--it saves a lot of hard drive space.what skatehandler failed to see is that there is a menu option in ubernotes to back up all notes to a portable html file.
i've tried many apps of this kind, and for me ubernote is far superior to them all, including zoho notebook and evernote. for other options you may want to consider zotero and ultra recall.
When I enable the UberNote toolbar and restart Firefox 3.6.3 all of the customizations that I have made to my MENU toolbar get deleted. I am also using TinyMenu if that makes a difference.
While I would really like to have the UberNote toolbar installed it is incompatible with my configuration.

i am using this addon now for 1year and its really good.

A huge disappointment!
There isn't any option to make the notes public. However, according to the developer, this is possible. Maybe in the previous versions but not in the latest one. I guess the guys were concerned about the copyright issues. In short, since the public URL for each note cannot be generated, I declare this application a huge failure. So, my advice to everyone: use "icyte" instead.. No doubt, "icyte" is by far the best note taking/archiving application ever!
This toolbar has been great in helping me plan my wedding. Adding tags and notes help me sort through the various vendor pages when it comes time to make decisions. Highly recommended!
I've been using the new version 2 and used to use the older one. The older one was good, this one is fantastic.
I like how you can add notes right to your bookmark or clips. I also use it to share those same bookmarks with my friends, all at the same point of entry.
I like the new features that were added, especially ability to tag my note before I submit it. Ubernote's capture and note taking has become an essential part of my studying and gathering material for my online grad classes. I can keep track of all my reference articles with clippings, notes, and also captures of previous online exams that I can use to study.
Very useful-easy to get to and sort through. Much better than having to go to the website everytime. Especially for the utilization of this program-you need to get to your 'notes' fast and this allows for maximum efficiency. AWESOME add-on!!!
What they are not telling you is that the notes are stored on their computer, not on yours.
Overall the toolbar serves my needs well for web development. I can easily "uberclip" code snippets and commands that I might use, then copy and paste them from the mini viewer. I find that useful.
The mini viewer is much easier to use for this purpose than the full sized ubernote.
My only complaint is that the mini viewer doesn't lend itself well to editing. You have to click edit, then it takes you to another page with just the note you want to edit. You can't easily paste between notes that way (like all the commands I've collected).
But then again it's called the mini "viewer", not editor. =)
I'm sorry that the first review for your add-on isn't a totally positive one but everyone will understand as I continue on.
The UberNote Toolbar and the UberNote service in general are both good tools with some really good features and options, however, there is a serious flaw
in the Mini UberNote Viewer.
I am unable to enlarge the text size in the viewer which makes it impossible for me to read and utilize what is probably the most essential part of using your add-on.
I do have a visual impairment to begin with but I am able to use most to all other Firefox add-ons that are created.
The text size in the viewer is smaller than Firefox's default interface text size so that's 2 strikes against UberNote.
I'm sure that it wouldn't be too difficult to remedy the Mini UberNote Viewer text size issue and that it is also something that was not intentionally done to exclude some users but now that it has been brought up, the UberNote Toolbar developers can fix things.
I do still recommend the UberNote Toolbar to others who have no problems with reading small text.
Thanks for the review both good parts and bad. We welcome all feedback.
We are working to fix this flaw with the text size. Thank you for pointing it out.
