New Turker Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Also, wanted to add, I've completed probably 700 hits for -- p9r --. They respond quickly as to whethet the hit was approved or rejected. I've also had no problem getting them to tell me when I mess up and even reversing the reject. I really don't want to share, but they deserve the kudos!!!

The Green A Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks Six, there was no green "A" in my tool bar, but there was a grey and white shield which said "firefox blocked content not secure" when I unblocked it now works !! Yay !! Do you know if it secure to do that way? Basically it said I disabled protection, but I tried it several times and each time the error goes away and Turkopticon works !! Hope its OK to do this way as I love having the reviews, thanks !!

Great!

I don't *think* you are running a serious security risk by doing this. I think there may be more of a risk if you are running mixed active content on something like a bank website with your personal account info that somebody might change without your knowing about it.

I know that Chrome does not block mixed active content by default and I don't have a detailed understanding of why the Firefox team decided to block it by default, but if you or anyone else convinces us otherwise, we will make an effort to deliver the Turkopticon data over HTTPS so that everything is "secured". (We have done it before, but then we changed servers and have not set up HTTPS on the new server yet.)

I'm glad to hear it's working for you!

Best,

Error Message Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am getting the similar error message, as others, and it is getting to be a pain. My message is: Error: JSON.parse: expected ',' or '}' after property value in object at line 1 column 24 of the JSON data. Please help! Thank you in advance. Happy Turking!

Hi CinStrgBrd,

Thanks for posting about this.

Amazon seems to have made a small change to the HIT list page in the last few days that broke Turkopticon and some other Turking scripts.

We've released a new version of the user script that should fix the problem:

http://turkopticon.ucsd.edu/turkopticon-2014.08.20.1512.user.js

You'll need to use the Greasemonkey and Toggle Mixed Active Content extensions to use the script. Links and more information are available on the Turkopticon home page (http://turkopticon.ucsd.edu).

We're working on making it a standalone extension again, but for now, this seems to be working for people.

I hope this helps, but please let us know if it doesn't, either by posting here or to our mailing list turkopticon-discuss, or by emailing turkopticon@differenceengines.com.

Thanks!

Love this Script but recent problems are making it impossible to use... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using T.O. for 2 years now and love it! A few weeks ago I started getting this error message:
Error: JSON.parse: unexpected end of data
And recently it became almost impossible to use and I had to disable it. I mentioned it on this site in a different review and was contacted and told that it was fixed. For about 1 day I stopped receiving the error, but it returned yesterday and is still happening today and getting worse and worse. Please help correct this and thank you for your help!!!!!

Hi Frank,

Thanks for letting us know.

I'm not able to reproduce this on my computer right now, so I have to ask some questions.

1. What version of Firefox are you using?
2. Do you get this error on every page of MTurk, or only on certain pages, or when you do something specific?
3. Can you paste some URLs of pages where you see the error? For example, this might be something like:

https://www.mturk.com/mturk/searchbar?selectedSearchType=hitgroups&searchWords=&minReward=0.50&x=0&y=0

4. If possible, can you save one of the pages where you get the error and email the HTML file as an attachment to turkopticon@differenceengines.com?

5. If you have Chrome, can you try using Chrome and seeing if the problem also occurs with Chrome? (In Chrome, these errors usually don't produce an error message; Turkopticon just won't appear.)

Thanks!

Loved It...And Then FF Update Ruined It Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a fantastic feature and I've been using it to avoid bad requesters. Unfortunately, FF decided to upgrade everyone and now it doesn't work. Reinstalled it...still doesn't work. Why, FF, why?

How to Fix TO on FF 23

Hi there -

To get TO that works with FF 23, please go to this page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/turkopticon/versions/?page=1#version-3.33
and download TO 3.33.
Mozilla taken forever to review the extension which is why the update hasn't gone to everyone yet. In the meantime, you can download it yourself from the link above.

I like this add on because it allows me to check reviews on requesters before completing a task. It saves me from surprises or taking HITs that may be potentially rejected.

Turkopticon is a Firefox add-on that helps me review and see user ratings of Mturk Requester. It comes in handy when accepting new tasks on the site, and useful to avoid bad requesters. It helps me prevent rejections, and the turkopticon add-on works as advertised.

Wow! Really great help Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is really handy for avoiding low-paying or scammer requesters.

It's a great tool to make sure you don't run into sketchy requesters on Amazon Mechanical Turk.

My only complaint is the add-on is extremely slow at peak times during the day. I feel discouraged to write about my favorite requesters because of the hassle it is to even get onto the site.
