Incomplete Translations Rated 4 out of 5 stars

On long page I translated, the translation quit partway down. I tried it several times. Don't know whether it was the addon or the translation site.

Very useful. Saves me the trouble of having to look for an online translator each time I need anything translated.

Nice features, a bit less appealing than other I have tested. I would give a 4 star rating, but unfortunately it doesn't translate from/to brazilian portuguese.

Wonderful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't know why it took me so long to look for a plugin like this (going to translating sites is two extra steps by itself). But here it is and it works beautifully Throw a button in your toolbar and read anything.

Great extension! 4 1/2 stars from me.

I would have given 5 stars, if it provided Greek Language (it is now supported by Google Translate), and if it could also be used on selected text, instead of a whole page (preferably, with the translation result in a bubble, with a copy option)

At the moment I translate a page to some other language, then I go and manually change the translation url to greek ("el").

Is there some file to change, so that greek is included in the languages?

Perfect, Better than the rest. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This little extension was exactly what I needed. It's fast and easy to use. I use this all the time when I browse Japanese web pages, just a left click on the icon in the bottom right and it quickly translates. This is more useful than the extensions which only translate selected text on a page.

Useless! Not yet rated

Does not work. When you access options it freezes the screen. Obviously some sort of compatibility issue, but users should not have to troubleshoot this.

Until they fix whatever it is that hangs up my screen it does me no good.

perfect! just what I needed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I installed this extension and tried it on a french site. At first I thought it didn't work - I added the flag icon to my toolbar - went to a french site I needed - clicked the flag and chose translate from french to english and nothing happened as far as I knew - no hour glass, no delay, no progress bar - but I noticed the new tab that was up - I was still on my current tab but clicking over to the new tab was the translated site. worked far better than I was expecting. Thanks for the great addon.

It would be nice if... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on. However, it would be nice if you could specify your native language, so you didn't have to deal with the enormous menu containing every possible combination of translations.

Sadly, I shall be ditching this add-on. It was very good until recently... now every translation ends up at Byron-adams.com

Developer's website unregistered! Not yet rated

Might be a good tool, but this user has let his domain name registration lapse, resulting in every translation attempt being redirected to a "parking site", where you can get info on Brittany Spears.

ya no traduce Rated 2 out of 5 stars

no se como valorarlo, yo le daria un 10 pero, ya no funciona como deberia, ya que aparece una pagina Welcome to byron-adams.com y eso es bastante molesto, porque no encuentro otra opcion para traducir

Just what I was looking for Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using the Translate extension for a long while, but this extension has the two features I've always wanted.
* Can configure for one-click translation to a favoured language pair (I mainly translate Dutch to English).
* Adds extra translation services (Translate only uses Babelfish.)

Only downside was that although Google translation supports Dutch-English, Translator doesn't know about it.

As I have managed to work out how to add this functionality, here's a summary for anybody who needs to do the same with this or any other language pair. (I did it on Linux, it should be similar on other systems)

cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/translator@dontfollowme.net/chrome
jar -xvf translator.jar # Extracts the contents of the JAR file
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/translator@dontfollowme.net/chrome/content
vi translator.properties # (or use your favourite text editor)
Find the line starting "google.langpairs" and add in the relevant codes (for example, to get Dutch/English and the reverse, I added "en.nl,nl.en")
The next step may or may not be needed, I needed it to get it working with my en_GB locale.
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/translator@dontfollowme.net/chrome/locale
cp -r en-US en-GB
cd en-GB
vi translator.properties # (or use your favourite text editor)
Add lines for your language pairs in the same format as all the other lines.
cd ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/translator@dontfollowme.net/chrome
jar -cvf translator.jar * # re-builds the JAR file

Re-start Firefox and you should now have your new language pair. If the pair doesn't appear for your chosen translator, check to see if Firefox has output a message like "*** Failed to get string google.en.nl in bundle: chrome://translator/locale/translator.properties" if it did, then you need to do an edit on locales similar to the one I did.

Once it's working, you can delete everything in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/extensions/translator@dontfollowme.net/chrome apart from translator.jar
