Got this to kill those very annoying Google home page animations. It was working until very recently but Google now seem to have found a way to cicumvent this add-on.
It's simply a must-have add-on on. I loved it, but the new version of Firefox does not support it. I would be really happy, if the add-on was working again.
RIP lightweight addon that did exactly what it says on the tin.
Time of decease v57
Seriously though, trying to freeze-frame a GIF without this is going to be a real hassle involving, among other things, finding an online service-as-a-software-substitute to do the same thing. I used this thing regularly so RIP one hour of my life if this doesn't get updated and no one makes a good substitute add-on soon
This worked amazingly well, allowing me to decide if I wanted to view a .gif or to halt it after viewing. ...Until FireFox broke it.
This is the best addon to manage GIFs. I´ve tried probably all the others, and nothing like this. It works allways! It´s a shame that is not working anymore in Firefox Quantum. I really hope it will be working again soon.
Saves my sanity. Thank you.
Please make it work for Firefox 57 wenextension
This add-on is not only amazing but a lifesaver - I frequently browse pages with a ton of gifs and it slows Firefox down to a crawl, making load times take forever. I was all set to mess with Firefox's configurations when I stumbled across this instead and it's so much better - I like having the ability to toggle gifs on and off with a quick press of a button (the button depends on what you choose in the addons menu) and I especially love the feature to automatically pause all gifs to prevent my browser from being overworked.
The only hiccup I've come across so far is with the (experimental) feature to show an indicator over paused gifs. This feature is great because it helps distinguish what images are paused gifs and what are static images, but when I had this feature clicked my page load times increased significantly and certain images just wouldn't load at all. I really hope whatever bugs for this feature get worked out eventually, I really like being able to tell what images are gifs with a quick glance.
Despite that one issue - though not really an issue an issue considering it's a feature that is outright stated to be experimental - I think this add-on is amazing not only for what it does but also because of all the options that are available for configuration and I'm glad I found it.
Yet another thing we can't control in FF57+
I was expecting to see the same to when you click 'show controls' - all I'd like is to have that always on. This mod isn't providing that, only a play & pause button in the top right.
Seems to have stopped working in private mode. Firefox 54 multiprocess enabled.
I can read articles again.
And stop animation made with slide-show of images?
It's a great tool, finally I'm not afraid of browsing web pages.
One thing I would love to see is an option to hide the markers on the gif when mouse is hovering on it.
The second could be a marker, which shows it's a gif like on Discordapp, then it would hide when hovering the gif.
Simple Add On. You can stop annoying gifs from playing. If you want to see them, it is easy to do that, too.
Great extension, thanks so very much! F1 used to work but doesn't work for me lately in Waterfox.
One little wish, if i may: stop all gifs on page at once (add an icon to the existing onscreen bar?).
Thank you again, glad i installed it!
Exactly what I want: Pause and start from the first frame.
This is really amazing. Not only does it provide keyboard shortcut to start and stop animated gifs, but even better provides onscreen controls to start, pause and rewind. Great job!
Congrats! awesome addon!
Please consider adding a scrollbar for the next versions :)
Works very well as specified.
Works as advertised. This should be built into every browser, really.
Works as expected. Very useful and clever.
Thanks a lot for your hard work.
