This nine-year-old extension works for me after editing the install.rdf, but it also bizarrely disables my Address bar, so it's unfortunately useless!
Still works for me in Fx Nightly 47.0a1 Linux x64, February 2016, if edit install.rdf to increase maxVersion...
E.g. save .xpi, open it with 7-Zip, edit install.rdf (gEdit, Notepad), change em:maxVersion from e.g. 2.0.0.* to just *, & i suggest change em:version from e.g. 1.8.0 to 220.127.116.11, save & close editor & .xpi, then rename version of .xpi to same as your em:version, et voila :)
i keep the Layout default & just change the Browser Name to something fun ;)
No Update, No answer to comments.... No anything on home page..... Please gather attention for your add on : write "temporarily discontinued" or "abandoned"
This add-on is quite simple, but provides the function I'm looking for much more easily than other similar add-ons. I like to use several instances of FF portable at once, and this lets me give each a custom window title, and change the order to [Title - Webpage]. Allows me to tell at a glance which instance I'm in.
FYI, this works perfectly in FF v22 with the use of 'Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks' add-on
Works on Firefox 4 and compatible with Hide Caption Titlebar Plus and Firefox 4 UI Fixer
you can also use the nightly tester tools to modifiy the windows title; go to tools -> nightly tester tools -> customize titlebar
Remains the best extension for customizing the titlebar IMHO. Actually, works with 3.5 though not updated for 3.5. I installed it using the Nightly Tester Tools to override compatibility.
Genuine update to the original is available here
Lightweight, simple, does exactly what is says it does (allows you to alter the titlebar).
Code is clean and well written, and there appears to be enough titlebar options to satisfy most power users.
As a possible improvement it would be nice if the options dialog was shown immediately upon first install (why else would I have installed this add-on),
rather then requiring the user to hunt through the add-ons menu looking for the options dialog (tools > add-ons > Titlebar Tweaks > options).
Overall, a small, simple add-on that elegantly solves a particular problem.
Upgraded for use with FF3.0 - 3.6a1pre at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13373
PLEASE UPDATE THIS ADDON FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF FIREFOX!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! ;-) I've been waiting since FF3 was released.
I released a patched version of the 1.8.0 to work with Firefox 3. (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/10495)
I use Mr Tech Toolkit in order to use this, I have e-mailed to the autor but i have nor response.
Someone who knows how to make this for firefox 3 should make one
Proszę o wersję do Firefoksa 3
This is great, so I was sad to lose it when I switched to Firefox3. Thanks for recommending Mr.Tech Toolkit, it's a great fix for this add-on and several others!
i added this to my ff3 3.0.5 on sat.jan3 2009 and it works great
Found that FireTitle add-on supports FF3 and also customizes window titlebar
For people wanting this functionality in Firefox3: use "MrTech's Toolkit".
This is a very useful extension. Please help us get an upgrade for Firefox 3.x.
Please, upgrade it to 3.0.1
'cause it´s GREAT!!
CAN SOME1 UPLOAD THIS ONE FOR FF3? TY TY TY !
for FF3, changing MaxVersion also worked for me
Love the extension. Nice and simple.
FFx 3, though, the developer says he has issues:
"April 8, 2008 - 20:20 PDT
Extension updates for Firefox 3.0 are on the horizon. I'm going to have to change the GUIDs, though, to be compatible with the FUEL preference support, so I'm going to have to figure out how to make it easy for users to get the new versions. I'm also in serious crunch time at work, so please forgive the dust..."
Changing the MaxVersion worked just fine for me. I think it might be more of an issue with version releases. I know I've tried to make edits to the extension version of other extensions, and FFx spits them out as being incompatible ...
The only other link to a modified xpi that installs on 3 is unreliable (too many users from your ip error), and makes you wait. I made my own:
scrap 104 thank you soooo much, (works great) I can now fully convert over to ff3
I run multiple browsers with different profiles and this works great for helping me readily identify each. An official FF3 version would be great.
