I have loved this add-on in the past. Have even considered it almost indispensible but I hasn't worked for a while and doesn't appear to with 3.6. Hopefully it will soon.

Looks and sounds like a great Add-On -- it doesn't work with Firefox 3.6.

In firefox 3.5 how do I create a tiny URL for a link? All I can get is the link for the page I'm on, not the link I'm right clicking on.

This is one of my favorite add-ons. Please update for 3.5.2.

Rather than globally disabling compatibility-checking in the browser, you can hack the installer.

Open the downloaded xpi/zip and edit the install.rdf file, changing Version to "1.0.5.HACK35" and maxVersion to "3.5.*"

update for 3.5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Version 2.0 located on developers homepage (see above). works great in 3.5. However when checking add-ons for updates getting error message "an error occurred while trying to find updates for tinyurl creator". Go to homepage to download 2.0.

Just wanted to tell you that this addon works fine for me in Firefox 3.5.1 on Linux. Just had to unzip the .xpi, change the highest possible version in the file install.rdf and install it manually. I don't have any problems. Thanks, nice addon.

Fixed my local version Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just fixed my local copy to work properly with the TinyURL service again. I've been using shrunklink.com since the problem surfaced, but I always felt disloyal to my first love, TinyURL.com.

I edited the services.js in the plugin's JAR file and made this change, thanks to the suggestion from josefec.

- // Encode URL (TinyUrl.com will choke if you try to use encodeURIComponent)
- var urlencode = url.orig;
+ // Encode URL
+ var urlencode = encodeURIComponent(url.orig);

Then I added the services.js file back into the content folder in the tinyurl.jar file. I've tested it on the problem links that MeTuLHeD reported, and both now return the expected URL.

Note: GUID for TinyURL Creator extension is {89736E8E-4B14-4042-8C75-AD00B6BD3900}.

fix URLs not working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

@CandaceVan - that is correct, and happens when the TinyURL web service is used.
But in the addon options you can _change_ the service provider. Works OK with shrunklink for example.
